While placing my last order with The Perfumers Apprentice, I noticed that they have a Flavor Under Development section. I also noticed that these flavors were not offered for sale but as free samples.

When I scanned the list, one thing caught my eye. PIZZA Flavor

Perfumers Apprentice - Pizza

Wow. That’s sounds wild. Being a Red Blooded American male I didn’t see how I could not try it? I put it in the cart, did the check out and promptly forgot about it.

When my order arrived there was a Tiny little bottle at the bottom of the bubble wrap. "Cos'è questa cosa"? I got it out and it was the Pizza Flavoring sample. Cool. I had to mix up a 3ml batch and test it out.

I used ultimate restraint in not vaping it immediately. The smell was Crazy. An explosion of Oregano and Spicy Sausage with just a hint of crust.

I kept telling myself, “attenda prego, Attenda Prego! “. I know that flavors change with time so I wanted to give it at least 24 hours before I tried it.

Today had been a full 24 hours so I got out my 510 manual and a clean atomizer for a quick test drip. I gave it 3 drops and couple of quick pulses on the button. A small wisp of vapor rose from the atomizer. It smelled like a Pizza oven when you open the door. Very strong but very pleasant. I popped on a mouth piece and took a nice slow hit.

Man, the taste was Intense. I could picture melting cheese covered with sausage. There was good Oregano Marinara aftertaste also. All I needed now was a pitcher of cold beer. That and a Red Checked table cloth and a Wine Bottle with a Candle stuck in it. "Mi piace davvero!"

Maybe PA has stumbled onto the perfect diet solution? vape all the Pizza you want and never gain a pound. And none of those cardboard boxes that don’t fit in the recycling bin.

Thank you Linda for the sample, "Sei molto gentile". The Pizza flavor is "Bravissimo" !

Wow, I think I am in love. I just checked out their site... they have jalapeno! Jalapeno will go great with the pizza, and with the kung pao chicken I have.

That would be a Wicked combo. Maybe I'll will pick up a sample on my next order? That is, if my sponser will let me. I have enrolled in a 12 step program for people who purchase way to many DIY supplies.

I noticed that some of their flavors are Water based (PG). Is that ok to vape? I mean I know what PG is, but I've never heard of water based PG.
I can't honestly say I know what water based propylene glycol IS. But, I do know it's safe to add water to your PG based juice. :?:

I see. Well, it seems safe enough. I will take a crack at it and see what happens. But, I'll use an older atty and batt just in case.

I believe the "Water base" refers to a "Water Based Flavor" in PG. Some flavors are Water based and some flavors are Oil based.

Some people do not think oil based flavors are all that good for you. I tend to be one of those people. I like that they tell me what the base is.

I like another thing about PA. They don't use a bunch of artificial colouring. I don't care if my Watermelon flavor is Green or Red. I would rather have it be clear, like PA's, and not be vaping colouring.

I allmost gave up on DIY mixing after buying Lorann flavors. Everything I mixed tasted bitter or chemical. I find PA flavors to be "foregiving" if you put too much in and do not get bitter or a chemical taste.

That and Linda is Great with customer service!

It bothers me to hear this. All I have is Lorann. I bought nearly 50 different flavors. So far, I've been fairly pleased with my experiments, with a few less than great. Now, you have me thinking I've missed the boat. Out of the bunch, I've only sampled perhaps a dozen.

I probable should have been more clear. I have never been able to make ANY fruit flavors with Lorann. Where as my first experiment with PA's watermelon was Very Good.

If you have a Lorann's Cherry, Blueberry, Watermelon, Peach, Apple, Fruit Punch, Grape. None of them seem to give a good flavor. I can get a hint of a flavor but if I add another drop to make the flavor stronger, it just gets bitter or gets a strange, chemical taste.

I have tried to counter act the bitterness using "Cotton Candy" sweetner but have had very little success. If you have a Fruit recipe using Lorann that you like I would love to see it!

I wouldn't freak out over having purchased 50 Lorann flavors. I have heard that some of there flavors are good.

I just may have to give DIY a shot ;-)

DIY mixing can be Very cool. It can also be Frustrating as Hell! If you are just getting into it I would give you a few suggestions.

Keep DETAILED RECORDS. Your going to have some initial success and your going to have some failures. The worst thing is when you mix something and it Tastes Bad. You Add a drop or two of this. Tastes better. Add a drop of something else and it is too strong. Add some PG/VG to dilute it and it’s Perfect. But two weeks later you want to make more but can’t remember what you did to fix the original mix.

Make small 3ml batches until you have a good recipe. Don’t start of trying to make 30ml of something. Some flavors sound good on paper but just don’t taste good and are hard to fix. Better to waste 3ml than 30ml.

Let your mix sit for at least 24 hours, or longer before trying it or changing it. It takes time for flavors enhance e-Juice. Mixes taste different after a day or so. Usually stronger.

Choose Flavors in “Families”. By that I mean that most taste is not based on just one flavor. If you are going after a Fruit flavor say Cherry, It just doesn’t taste right sometimes. But put in a drop of Watermelon to the mix and it tastes good. Peace is a Great flavor to add to most Fruit mixes. Also Vanilla is great to add to Caramel or Coffee flavors.

Buy Sweetener when you buy your flavor. Many DIY flavors have no sweetener added to them. To make a mix with strong flavor, it is going to get bitter before it takes on a strong taste. Many people use “Cotton Candy” (ethyl maltol) as a safe sweetener. Marshmallow is also a good flavor to take the edge off many mixes.

DIY is fun what with all the bottles, recipes and a P-Touch labeler. Kinda brings out the Mad Scientist in a person. Let us know how it turns out and be sure to post your Recipes when you develop the Perfect blend.

I just placed my first order and just had to add the pizza. Also got the gingerbread. Kind of looking forward to trying it now :)

Good job on getting the Pizza Flavor. It is a truely unique taste.

I went with 10% of flavor in my test recipe. Unless you like Explosions of permisimo(sp?), I would go with 7 or 8% of pizza to start. It is a very strong flavor.
