Question about rewrapping batteries

When you take off the original wrap, i notice theres a little plastic/paper O ring thing on the positive side. I lost them for two of my batteries but I still rewrapped them. How important is it to have those rings? They are LG HE2's if that matters.
i put two battery wraps and made sure they cover everything but the nipple/air vents, including where that little plastic o ring used to be?

They insulate the positive from the negative so they're quite important. You can find them on fasttech, but I think you should be fine with just cutting one out of regular paper.
