Temperature protection dna200

Ok people really stupid question. On my wismec dna200, When dry firing coils, every now and then the box will refuse to fire and give a temperature protection message. And yes the mod near the dripper is hot, but check the batteries and they are nice and cool. So my question is is the mod thinking the batteries are hot or just its not liking the furnace sitting on top of it? I would assume it thinks the batteries are hot but anyone know for sure?

Do you have in TC mode?
Temperature protection means the coil is above the set temperature.

Nope dna200 auto detects if its a titanium or nickel coil. no manual mode switching. This is with kanthal coils.

Temp protect indicates TC mode.
