Pretty basic build. I wanted the spacing to interlock where the bottom and top coils meet, but it was being a pain in the .... Twisted 24g SS316L, 0.10 ohms, 2.4mm IDs. Vapes awesome at 55.5 watts in wattage mode, but temp mode didn't want to play nice again.

Shank ya much! Haha speaking of more builds, where to go from here? I was thinking about trying an alien Clapton (have some Claptons wrapped and ready to be decored hehe) but whenever I tried a fused Clapton the wire wanted to twist on me. Maybe I should work on my fused claps first? Or jump in balls deep n blindfolded... Hmmm decisions decisions

There are two thing that will help with the twisting. First, pliers. If you want to keep from marking marking up the wire, use nylon tipped pliers to twist it back. Second, it will twist less if you loop it around a couple of swivels. Like in this vid -

This method works for fused, staples, framed staples, and so on. As long as you have an even number of wires, use it.

Also, after I finish wrapping, I hold the end with pliers and gently reverse the drill to get out most of the remaining twist, then I finish it by hand. Swivels don't eliminate it completely, but they will cut the amount of twisting down.

If you reverse the drill to take the natural twists in the wire out you risk loosening up the wrap. You don't actually need to untwist anything until you wrap your coil.
When I do 3 core aliens the 2 side wires will helix with the wrap around the center wire. I just leave it as is and when I go to wrap the stick into coils, the twists will come out naturally. No need for taking extra effort to try to remove something that'll come out on its own.

Fair enough. But that slack is also taken up a bit once you start winding again. And staples are far less forgiving of twists in the wires, those one were the real problem. I think that fused had a nasty weird twist in it or something...not that I was originally planning to use the wire that far down, but was a victim of the 42ga getting caught in the swivel, so it broke off about 3/4 the way down. Just a matter of getting used to working with that small of a gauge. Every time I build lately, I tend to do it in spurts, so the first few coils are getting used to doing it again, and throw the smaller, softer wire on top of that...

Is electrical tape made of nylon? Lol I'll be making my own tipped pliers

How versatile is the Merlin RTA? You can literally put anything in it.

Spherical coil made with fused clapton (24g SS316L cores & 30g SS316L wrap). 0.44 ohms and yes surprisingly she vapes pretty well.

No edits other than crop and watermark.

I just did a variation of this last night:) Vertically:

Kinda ugly since I wasn't really panning this one, just happened. 3 strand, 29g kanthal core claptoned with 32g Nichrome. Wrapped into a figure 8 using 2 3mm screwdrivers. Resistance = 1 Ohm. Will be putting on my series unregulated box for some fun today. Takes alotta volts to get this baby going but the flavor is top notch:)

Edit: Great vape on the series unregulated! A little more cotton flavor than I'd prefer and much cooler than I normally like. I can't wait to hone this one, dropping the resistance some and dolling it up for the camera.

Nothing special here but it is my very first staple coil (so special to me I guess)!! It went better than I thought it would, though coiling it was kinda PITA. Those ribbons didn't want to bend like I wanted them to bend. A stellar vape IMHO. 5x .8x.1 ribbon core wrapped in 32g Ka1, 3mm ID, 5/4 wraps @ .18 Ohm:

I gotta give you pro builders some credit. This shist aint easy. My attempt at some type of alien clapton:
IMG_2161[1].JPG

A set of fused claptons (3x 29g Ka1 wrapped in 32g Nichrome each) then claptoned with 32g Nichrome. I had taken the wrap off of another clapton but I straightened the wire out too much. It vapes really well though!:)
