    I've seen the 'non-contact' idea discussed before regarding ceramic coatings etc. The main concern I've seen raised is the wattage required to heat the element through the 'insulator' and that you wouldn't have the instant heat we get when allowing the fluid to be in direct contact with the coil.

    Clear Drip Tip Doesn't Fit

    I loved my clear tip on my top feeder, but it broke last night after 3 weeks of use. It snapped cleanly around the base of the main body behind the rubber gasket with very little force. I'm assuming its because of the material used and how thin it needs to be in that area?

    I had the same problem and the 'dead' atty would work on my USB PT. Turned out the LiIon batteries didn't like the LR attys I had that were a lower resistance than the others(they vary). Solution was High Drain LiMn batteries.
