Penny the horse seems to be doing fine. Today was warm and sunny, and the horses were out on pasture, not in the little muddy paddock by the barn. I thought for sure Penny would try to lie down and worried that if she did, would she be able to get up again? Still, she'll need to lie down soon...

I tutored this morning, and the kids were quite excited to get their Easter baskets. I included a small toy in each rather than just lots of candy. Then we read about Easter & Passover. In the Easter thing I had printed out, it told how Easter was celebrated in other countries, and there was a...

Here is an Easter greeting the little girl I tutor sent me. I think she may have designed it herself on her iPad. She's really into art. I'll be tutoring this morning and have Easter baskets for the kids. The little girl is especially anticipating this and has mentioned it several times...

Good night early. I may be back, but it seems slow tonight, so maybe not. Here are blossoms to try to hurry spring along. I don't know ... it snowed this morning, though nothing stuck on the ground, and today was sunny & breezy. So anyway, blossoms for my hopes that spring will come soon...

I went to the barn this morning to give Penny her morning dose of bute and groom her for a long time. I think the IV banamine the vet gave her yesterday hadn't worn off when I first got there, and the bute isn't as strong, because as I was grooming, she did start acting a bit more touchy about...

We had another adventure this evening. Penny was down in the pasture and couldn't get up. I called the vet. She gave Penny a shot of banamine and then when it took effect, we got Penny up, with 3 people pushing at her back to help her. I'm to give her bute twice a day for a while and see how she...

I went to the barn early this morning to see how Penny was and to put her blanket back on, since it's supposed to rain & then snow tonight. They say an inch. It may melt fast, though. Penny's right hind near the stifle seems sore. When I touched it, even lightly, she moved away. The vet is...

Gorgeous photos, Rave & Trit. 0mg, I'm sorry about your car, but maybe a move to the city will suit you better. Having a car is convenient, but it's a big expense and provides lots of woes when it doesn't work. My daughter lives in NYC, and she has never even bothered to get a driver's license...

Boston cream is that yellow custard inside, rather than the white cream. I like that, too, with dark chocolate on top. They make eclairs like that, too.

I haven't been taking pictures lately because the scenery is pretty drab these days. I get tired of reusing what I already have. But just for you, Uncle, here's a blue heron I took last summer.

I went to see Penny today to do the usual: groom her (she's shedding big time) and clean out her feet. The left hind was about the same. She picked it up, but she fussed about it a bit first. I had rubbed her leg before I tried. It was snowing lightly and was just a few degrees above freezing...

I'm no expert, but some possibilities: Are you watering them enough? Too much? Fertilizer? Repotting because the roots are crowded? Are they getting enough sun?

I went to see Penny today, even though it was much colder than yesterday. It was about 23º and windy. It wasn't actually so bad in the barn, out of the wind. I groomed Penny & then cleaned out her feet. Since it's colder, I expected trouble with that hind leg, so I rubbed the leg pretty...

I should have gone to see Penny today, but I got lazy, and it was cold. But now it's snowing, and it's supposed to snow tomorrow, too, and be even colder. I guess I'll go to the barn tomorrow and pay for my laziness today. This is what procrastination does to me!

I went to see the boy perform in Project 4 today. He did well. He didn't need a cheat sheet and had his lines memorized, though there weren't many. I was glad to hear his diction was better than when I went to see him perform last year at school. I really work on the kids' diction, since they...

There are lots of Seneca names around here. The tribe used to be local. There's Seneca Lake (see Seneca Lake (New York) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), Seneca County, Seneca Falls, etc. Yes, the Seneca tribe lived in this area.

Very interesting, but as far as I know, the white deer are pure white, not spotted or striped, though I read that crosses can produce spots in some cases. My guess is that Native Americans saw some deer like this, and that engendered this belief. There are small numbers of white or...

Lizzie, I'm not sure I ever saw lightning during a snowstorm, but occasionally, I heard thunder, and where there's thunder, there has to be lightning, I suppose, so I guess it just wasn't visible. It is rare to get thunder and lightning in winter.

A good night photo in honor of 0mg: spring snow. In fact, this one was so far along that things had bloomed already. It didn't seem to affect the blooms, though. The snow was short-lived, not the last hurrah snowstorm.
