Hey guys - have any of you used welded wires for non-resistance legs? I welded a wire last night and made a coil, looked beautiful, but after torching it with a torch a couple times it just broke the tires right off.
I still want to use this on my Odysseus and/or Ithaka (I figure Ody would be...
Nice - so wait you twist 2 ribbon wires together? I was thinking about that the other day but figured it'd be incredibly thick. Curious to see that setup
I feel the same way, but who are we kidding, we'll probably buy it anyway!
I'm definitely curious about it (like how will it differ from just putting a kick in my GGTS?), though, but I do love my mechanical GGs!
Yeah I usually try to get the wire in a good spot on the clips then turn them slightly and pull the wire taught.. Usually get a good reading, I was just surprised at the resistance boost from the nickel (at least compared to regular coils), I thought I had to have been doing something wrong, but...
Come to think of it, maybe it's leaking because I started wrapping my nickel around the positive center post twice instead of just once (after watching some videos, I think Bishop does it [but with silver]) - maybe there is too much nickel under the O-ring now, and it's uneven? Next build I will...
Hmm interesting.. there must be something else going on then because I screw the housing in VERY TIGHT to the base and liquid leaks out from the base hole (around the center post)
I look into the hole and it looks like the o-ring is smooshed in a strange way where there is an opening.
I will...
Yup, I do realize that.. I like hotter vapes (well at least not cool!) and harder throat hits!
I think my issue was definitely just screwing down too tight.. I think after time I warped my o-ring because it never leaked before recently!
Yeah I was concerned about that o-ring on the basic feeding part, but was told that o-ring actually didn't matter, and doesn't need to be used apparently. I still keep mine on, though!
Nice - I will inspect my O-ring before next build and swap it out, perhaps my center post is a little crooked as well - I find it difficult to get it PERFECTLY straight a lot of the time - but with a little finagling I can usually get it pretty good - not any different than my non-leaking...
Do you guys get leaking out of your center posts's o-ring if you screw the rebuildable part into the base too hard? I think I may be screwing it in too hard.. I know I posted about this before but it's become more apparent on that one Ithaka (my new one is fine, but I didn't screw it in quite as...
Thanks for the response! How is the vape with parallel coils? I typically do an X with my coils which would make things a little more difficult, but for ease maybe I'll try parallel coils first.. Thanks!
Its not as hard as it is with the cap on, and the cap isn't on too hard either. I think it's the o ring, but I'll lube it up a bit better next time. I didn't normally have to lube up my smoother Ithaka at all, just let the juice do its thing.
Quick question guys. My new Ithaka I got the mouthpiece is so much harder to unscrew with the cap on, my other one is smooth and easy.. I forget if my first Ithaka was hard to unscrew at first or not. Even after washing the o ring on my first Ithaka it's easy to unscrew. I lube up the new o ring...
Yeah that was my concern, threading the wicks into empty coils - which is why I was wondering if we could just torch the coils with a torch, instead of using the device to fire it and squeeze them together.
Also, I have pretty good luck with 3mm silica on my Ithaka and I use higher VG juices...
Has anyone tried dual microcoils on an Ithaka? I will be experimenting soon, I'm just not sure how to "start" the coil with torching. Maybe I will start with just one on an Odysseus first.
Can I just use a simple torch the coils to make them glow, then squeeze them together (multiple times)...
