I tried saving some really unpleasant liquids with TV Doublers. Unfortunately it was not successful. The previous liquids were so bad, it was like sending in a chef when you really needed a hazmat tech. :p
But with liquids that aren't bad-tasting, just weak or 'unbalanced', I've had good...
Some folks here have done home maceration experiments (part of the huge "so are we getting it or are we not..." thread) to try and extract the nicotine and other alkaloids from whole tobacco in a way that doesn't require a chemistry degree. The general consensus is that only tiny quantities can...
And this is exactly why it's great to share information with smart people...:) I'm so glad you pulled that out exo. I zoned in on the alkaloid charts and basic methods, put it aside temporarily and then got distracted by other searches, and your eagle eyes found some other truly interesting...
Hm...I guess they're showing up for most folks, and I put them in a public album on my profile. Not sure how to correct it any further than that... I'd be happy to email the pdf of the article with all the charts if you would PM where to send it.
The insane thing is that I swear I've come...
Katmar--I'm afraid I mostly posted these for anyone who would be curious for the data, and to link to my rambling over in the Nic absorption from snus thread...
The intriguing part is in comparing tables 1 and 2, and smokeless tobacco versus cigarettes:
Notice how anatabine and anabasine are...
It's behavioral feedback. Also, something visual to focus/distract, like some people look at the smoke from a cigarette. There's something soothing about it thanks to this association with the ritual of smoking.
People vary in what they crave(d) from smoking -- whether it's the...
The upshot:
Supposing this is all true...
A smokeless tobacco user consumes less nicotine but takes in relatively more anatabine.
Anatabine slows down the metabolism of nicotine (not with the first dose – it takes time for enzyme inhibition to build up).
This leads to a longer half-life in...
(I hope my Q&A style in this post isn't too cutesy. It's my way of challenging myself to explain and understand things in clearer terms. I welcome feedback.)
Nice Excel work, Exo! Really interesting ideas...
Just a note to segue into my hypothesis:
Half-life isn't a function of...
OK...two big posts to follow with my (utterly, totally layman's) hypothesis on how this nic absorption from snus might:
(1) have a longer half-life and
(2) not require the same nicotine intake as you'd need from smoking tobacco.
I ain't qualified for any of this (one look at my organic...
I just came upon a paper in my reading that may be of interest to others.
The paper's abstract is here; full text is gated, but I have it as a .pdf for anyone who wants to dig into it.

HealthCabin sells five-packs of the XL KR8 batteries for $50 (individually $12 each).
And they also have the standard sized batts for $10 each individually.
Yep, just the color of the LED on the end of the e-cig battery that indicates the battery is activated (i.e. powering the atomizer).
Be sure to add a couple different liquid samples to keep you tided over until you want to try another liquid supplier or two. (The Ecopure english toffee is...
To address the OP's concern about throat hit -- nicotine is what makes most of the throat hit. Flavorings and alcohol assist. But you can definitely make good DIY liquids without alcohol.
People here add grain alcohol or vodka at low percentages to their liquids to add extra throat hit, but...
I've heard Bacardi 151 does a nice job, especially on 'tropical' or dessert flavors. Others report that flavored vodka works well.
Since sugars caramelize and gunk up the atomizer, it's probably best to avoid liquor with much sugar content (hence the vodka/everclear preference).
Grape tequila...
