Trying to get the form factor down even further. I still need a bezel for the charger...but that is another day. My only advice is don't try this! Not nearly enough room.
General specs: Large screen DNA40, lexan cover, aluminum frame with dye stabilized burl skins.
I have posted too many of these lately, but this one merits sharing. Wife concluded she liked the 1/8" band and I decided the mirror polish stands up to wear better than the brushed, so we are replacing her daily mod. This is dyed and stabilized burl that I have resawn to 1/8" fit into a...
Is there a location or thread where the suggestions that have been made are listed as accepted or rejected? I have seen various suggestions regarding tweaks to the out-of-the-box layout and it would be nice to see a definitive statement on them. Something like "Remove mood for non-supporting...
I got impatient waiting for the burl to ship, so I finished this one with white oak. Though I do not have a mill, the screen came out perfect. Very pleased! The screen cover is flush mounted blacked out Lexan and it has a 1/8th inch thick band. I did a mirror polish on the aluminum and like...
Done with the Wife's purple heart mod, on to one (another one) for me. This is Padauk skins with an aluminum case, blacked-out Lexan screen cover, dual bag lipos and a very interesting dual tactile switch that I just love.
After using her dual lipo rig, I really like the power, weight and...
The "Official DNA 40" thread has died a slow agonizing death largely centered around debate on the quality of one vendor's product.
This thread is not for the discussion of any particular chip, but for those wanting to build temperature controlled setups using nickel and/or titanium and a...
I have started adding 1% saline (for salt that results in flavor enhancement) and 1% lemon juice (to move the PH of the juice to neutral) and must say it really really makes juice great. I think the harsh part of DYI juice was the alkaline PH and the salt give a boost to mouth feel.
My bride wants a smallish mod with a DNA40, so off we go. More images as we progress. I am stuck waiting on the chip. The two lipos will give 2400mah at 25c, so it should be a nice box when done. The only thing accomplished thus far is the brazing of the aluminum, fitting of the wood skins...
There has been a great deal of conversation in the original DNA 40 thread about the new clone chip, and I would like to make a place for that discussion outside of that channel. The prior thread is...
I worked up a prototype enclosure (I had some aluminum that was too wide, but wanted to practice brazing it) and decided it would be a good chance to test an idea I had to use dovetails in the cover.
It is possible, but boy what a pain. I think I will skip it.
Finally a dual mod for a "table model". Features zebra wood, brass, 22 caliber shells for buttons and a magnetic closure. A bit bigger than needed, but - I have giant hands, wanted a table top model and room to work my first time out doing one from scratch. I am waiting on a old brass door...
Coming from the electric RC world, I am accustomed to charging my lipos in a fireproof environment and have witnessed a few lipos burn. What do you folks use for charging your mods? Are we in general relying on the small output of the cellular USB chargers or are some folks taking safety...
SO loved my DNA40. Built one for them, but now two days into it I am still being asked how to adjust it. It appears that part of the temp controlled vape they loved was having me dial it in.
I have only built micro coils with NI200 wire to date. Has anyone experimented with a more traditional open wrap coil vs the micro? What are your thoughts and observations? I want to do some testing with traditional open coils on NI200, but would love to jump in ahead of the curve.
I am building a few mods that will have a threaded 510. I have the Fat Daddy V3 and love the size and quality, but the new offering from Varitube looks good as well. I have the M10X1 and M10X0.5 taps so I can work with either. Are there any recommendations from those that have used each?
