had to go and get me some Crumbleberry salts today!
you know I been fiddling with atomizers and builds for my pod-style vape replication program, and I think I came up with the winner.
(and I had enough gear for 2, hence the need for Crumbleberry)
Full-on MTL, 1.2Ω 29g single coil, Mundy Fila-Pinch, Divo (!) atomizer w/ air drilled out to a whopping 1.3mm. (I'd grabbed a couple from Tom for the wife a while back . . . long after they were fashionable, but before tiny atomizers disappeared forever, and she never got around to using them.)
I wonder, if we'd had 40-50mg nic salts back in the day . . . would vaping ever have bothered to evolve? Will I end up reverting to my first squonky vape? (Well, permanently, I mean, cause this is pretty much it!)

yeah, well, I've been having an interesting time examining (casually) how much of my vaping, anymore, has to do with physical habit and ritual, and how much to do with the "nic replacement".
I'd have to say that the activity, the ritual, the physical sensation of vaping is at least half of it. And I'm really just exploring the salt 'n' pod thing because I got curious. Also, too, tho, wanted to have something available for when I'm on the job site n' stuff . . . quick and discrete and back to work.
I'm actually relishing the dual batt mega-clouds as I kick back for the evening and type this.
And the single batt Pinches are still the backbone of my vapes.
. . . just, out on a jaunt, really.

it seems I've got a few items being delivered in the next coupl'a:
100 grams of Benzoic Acid
An digital scale . . .
seems I've been pretty much nothin' but tootle-puffin' these last couple of days.
My plan (and this is NOT intended as directions for others to follow! Rather, just thinkin' out loud in case anyone sees a major flaw in my figurin')
is to gently cook/dissolve (55-60°C) 75g of B.A. into 1L of VG,
then combine that with 1L of 100mg/mL Nic in PG (which oughter be 'bout 100g o' nic . . . if'n you slash out a couple of "m"s)
This should yield 2L of 50mg/mL salt nic, 50/50(pg/vg), in the apparently ideal proportion of 3:4 (2L+, but just by a gnat's eyebrow)
I can then use that salt base to concoct individual juice recipes, as it leaves enough headroom to add flavorings and push the PG/VG one way or the other as I tailor it down to the 25-35mg "pod-style" strength I'm doing.
Coupl'a notes:
I don't really plan to make 2L straight out of the gate. That's just how I math. I'll probably shift some decimals and start with a 100 → 200 mL batch.
I know B.A. is harder to melt into VG than PG; but all my nic is in PG (as that + flav is what used to put the ~20-30% PG into my vapes). So, I need to go all VG to achieve a semblance of a balanced "base mix".
If the B.A. has a stank (which I've read it sometimes does), I'll need to recrystallize it [sublimate and . . .]. I'm trying to think of that as "fun" . . . but would really prefer not to have to. The B.A. I got looks pretty good for purity (ACS, 99+%, with specs on harmful impurities . . . or the lack thereof) . . . but then, what do I know, really?
Will not be doing any hacks that mix benzoic w/ citric. Not clear on that stuff exactly; but just not pokin' that with a stick.
My gut tells me I'll end up preferring something closer to a 2.5:4 ratio (B.A. to freebase); But I'll start with the "classic", and tweak it as necessary in subsequent small batches.

So I'm sitting herein Frankfurt Airport, wait for a Lufthansa plane to take me home and it will be boarding two hours late. What ever happened to Deutsche Pünktlichkeit?
Anyway, I've been here for a bit over a week. This time, I didn't bring any of my good (dibi and CeeCee) mods because none of them are TPD compliant, and I didn't want to risk them being confiscated by customs on the way in here. Instead, I'd picked up a couple of Aspire Breeze things (I refuse to call them "mods") for cheap ($15 each). They're a surprisingly decent MTL vape.
Knowing I'd be standing in a tradeshow booth for much of the week and thus unable to vape as regularly as I'm accustomed to, I also picked up some 36 mg salt liquid. At 70% PG, that stuff makes for a dandy stealth vape too. However, it's death on coils. I've yet to make it through an entire 2ml fill up on a Breeze before the coils used with the salt liquid started to produce a burnt taste. However, the unit I've been using with my regular unflavored liquid (65 VG, 13 nic) is just fine after 20+ ml through it.
Last couple of days I've been cutting the nic salt juice half and half with my usual unflavored. Of course it's not as stealthy and doesn't pack quite the punch, but I like that much better than the 70% PG salt.
Oh, and this airport has has a couple of smoking lounges in the 'Z' concourse, which make the extra wait somewhat less painful. Of course they stink to high heaven, so I run in for a couple of drags every once in a while and the get out as fast as possible.
All that said, I really miss my l'il pinches. My son will be picking me up from PHL later and he's under strict orders to bring my walnut pinch with him.

the delay thing is why you drive between florida and winter house, right? or am i remembering wrong?
