K so here is my attempt at twisting wire. It is 5/4 wrap on 3mm comes in at .24 on my Derringer. The wire was 2 pieces of kanthol ribbon and 1 piece of Nichrome. Sorry for the blur, my phone sucks at this!

I bet it's a little hot? I know the picture is a little blurry but that looks like dual 3&1/2 wrap coils to me.
BTW, nothing wrong with nichrome. I have a lifetime supply of 26g. I could probably even spare some - I've been using 24g kanthal lately but that could change too.
I've got some bailing wire... I mean... 18 and 20g nichrome for experimental purposes. More ideas than time to implement lately though.

at some point, round'bout midday today, I realized I wasn't going to have a confluence of finish on the mods AND daylight to shoot them. So, a wee-bit-o' compromise (and me doing exactly what I said I wasn't going to do, namely: put up any more pics before there's finish on the mods). These are straight off the final flushing operation; still warm, still have blue tape on the tops (to protect from scratching in the flushing process . .. . . who'd'a thunk that flushing could lead to scratching?)
