However Peter does the picking a few people are going to be very happy.

just to be painfully "i" dotting and "t" crossing (and pee looping) . . . i'm not doing any kind of picking. those characters are just making some stuff for their friends. how they decide which friends is nothing to do with me.

The pee looping seems to be the most painful ....ouch!!! [emoji51]

just on the by-the-wayside thang . . . .

it's been a little while since I've done any Chevy Chase with the mods . . ..

tumblr_lr6lyePIIG1ql7g25o1_250.gif

(I'm not either . . . but I caught his update, and he says . . .)

I was, indeed, away from work and mods for much of this week. :(
But I'm back into it with both feet in the river today :D and I'm buffing down to final polish on the mod bodies. I'm very hopeful to be completing mods sometime this next week and then turning my attention to atty distribution the week following. Hope, however, will weigh-out ever how it will; reality shall prevail, I'm sure. Been times when it's gone great, and times when not-so-much. We shall see . . . . I shall make many wiggly motions and do my bestest.

Do you ever take time off and go on vacation for a week or two? I've been on this thread as well as CAM's and I just noticed that you guys don't take time off.

Can someone explain to a non machinist how that chuck works? I'm used to seeing the ones with a big collar that takes a key to tighten and loosen.

Funny thing, this internet, one can get on pretty much wherever you go. Remember seeing Steve and his Mrs. on vacation in Greece?
Peter on the other hand doesn't seem to know what "vacation" means or "normal work hours" for that matter.

When you are a small business owner there isn't any such thing as "normal work hours" and vacation often has to take a back seat. When I went to California I had to pause vacation several times and VPN into my network to estimate and do various tasks. Don't think that works with woodworking though.

I'm a small business owner myself. Except that my work is of a different nature (no less exhausting believe me). But I know how easily and quickly one can overwork himself and burn himself out. That's why we need to recharge every once in a while.

Wanted to share some pics of the Clear Caps being machined. For my one off custom stuff, I dont CNC machine them, I machine them manually to add a bit of me to it, so each piece is unique and truly custom ;)

This is the machine that the clears were run on :) All chucked up and ready to go ;)

First steps, facing the end and rough milling the bore:

Then I size the bore with a boring bar:

Now drilling the drip tip hole:

Now I turn the Outside to size:

Now I cut off the part to flip it over:

That leaves this:

I face the Part to length:

Then turn the drip tip to size:

finally add the chamfer to the top cap:

Part is done except for the slots and polishing up nice and clear :D

Thanks for posting these, I love seeing Machining stuff, it is fascinating. I wish I had a lathe, and a possibly a milling machine, but if I did ever get them, I wouldn't have any place to put them. Plus I would also have to learn how to use them, I think I am better off just looking at the pictures.

That was an odd choice of the first finger to go!
Not really sweety .. it's the best first choice of all ten. :p

Actually it's a largely useless finger!
Tamer,.... you are dead right, and I can back that up
Thumb ... without it, you couldn't pick up or grip anything very well
Index ... gotta have something to poke at others, when making your point :nah:
Middle .. important to have for making other points
Pinky ... balances your hand, when you set it down to write or draw :)

I have to admit .. I finally found the first, and only time I have ever missed it :(

Annual???? You mean to say you go a whole year on the same batteries??? Please tell me your secret because I change mine out every 6-7 months
I think it depends on the battery and the exacting chemistry therein. I've got some VTC5s that I've been using for over two years that still run really well. Those things just refuse to die, at least for me. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the baby blue 25Rs I got when VTC5s became unavailable.

Part of the secret is that I'm not very hard on batteries, using builds between 0.5 and 0.7 ohms. I judge capacity by how much juice I can vape before I say, "Meh, I want a fresh battery" and then I always refill the bottle. My current favorites are the brown HG2s. They clearly have the most capacity, but I haven't had 'em long enough to say anything about their longevity.
