Have a Nuppin on the way, fortunately. How do I get one of those boss ultem tops though?!

I know a guy (or two)... who could probably tell you where to get some ultem stock. And another guy... who posted a nice pictorial on how he made some beautiful clear caps a few weeks ago... maybe between the two

My dna 40 devices don't recognize ss. They jump from wattage to tc and back to wattage when I use ss on them.

That's why I got a DNA200. I want to give it a try. My previous attempt was with the SX chip and a Rose V. 2 RTA was shortlived since I moved to squonking a couple of weeks after I got my SX M class. Wasn't that encouraging either to be honest. So I thought I should give TC a serious try with squonking before I pass a judgement. But so far I see little value in it, at least for me. [emoji849]

I mean, if there was anyway those guys would be so kind, along with your kindness, I sure would be a happy man.

I don't know what it is about that yellow-orange plastic

Quick aside - I have already been wood shopping and found the cutest grandma wood goblin :p

Wanted to share some pics of the Clear Caps being machined. For my one off custom stuff, I dont CNC machine them, I machine them manually to add a bit of me to it, so each piece is unique and truly custom ;)

This is the machine that the clears were run on :) All chucked up and ready to go ;)

First steps, facing the end and rough milling the bore:

Then I size the bore with a boring bar:

Now drilling the drip tip hole:

Now I turn the Outside to size:

Now I cut off the part to flip it over:

That leaves this:

I face the Part to length:

Then turn the drip tip to size:

finally add the chamfer to the top cap:

Part is done except for the slots and polishing up nice and clear :D

Off to the milling machine to do the slots.........

There's the tutorial, now all you need is some ultem, and a lathe, and some mad skillz wouldn't hurt either. I would think the lathe is optional but most helpful.

Nice looking block!

So, talk to me about the pinch please. I've got my CC, so now I'm lookin around.

I need wood

pdib's mods were the inspiration behind the CC. There are many similarities between them, including size. You will love owning a Pinch!

Here is a side-by-side of a Pinch and CC:

I gleaned as much ;)

I am an equal opportunity mod hoarder - metal, wood, makes no difference
One of these days, I will be getting the message that says, "Pay up, it's your turn now!".

That will be a good day.
You're certainly in better shape than I ;)

FORTUNATELY, I have a whole lot of posts and pictures to drool over

Think it's 6 months worth? :?:

I know I sounded bratty, didn't mean to :D

Nah, we all understand, having waited (or currently waiting) in line ourselves.

Do check with pdib before you spend the money on a block. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there that don't take the necessary steps to treat it correctly nor blend for a hybrid block correctly. Hybrid blocks need the wood to be uneven and not smooth to adhere correctly so they will not come apart under stress (like dropping onto a hard surface). In this picture, you can see how uneven the wood surface is which makes for a stronger wood/resin marriage:
