Some of us here actually appear to be intelligent and even downright clever. Many have acquired wisdom from facing and overcoming a wide range of challenges and setbacks. We are, for the most part, well educated, with skilz in the art of written expression.
And yet, here we are spending our time and energy drooling over a handful of crafted wooden devices when we could be spending our precious remaining time on Earth... uh, I dunno, like killing terrorists or feeding the poor.

Would you prefer us bearing arms and going out for the hunt of terrorists Mon-Wed-Fri and feed the poor Tue-Thu-Sat??? When the acts of killing and feeding have become equally noble acts in our day and age I think I prefer to spend my spare time on Earth drooling over a handful of crafted wooden devices.
Besides that's why we have governments, they spend hundreds of millions creating terrorists so they can then justify spending billions protecting us from them. Didn't you get the memo???;)
If we wanted to solve poverty we could have done that at a fraction of what it costs us to protect ourselves from the very terrorists we created. We're a funny bunch really

I detect a subliminal (and shorter) message: Shinyprettywant.

thank you for your interpretation, Rick.

but, no, what I meant to say is pretty much just what I said. I can't speak to everyone's motivations for visiting this thread; and, in that respect, I may have been broad in my stroke. My impetus for opening these threads stems from the same things that I'm passionate about: being creative, woodworking, living a simple life as a craftsman working with my hands, vaping (which, in my circumstances, is just shy of a miracle .. . if shy). The indescribable luck I struck upon where all these things could come together, and I can actually put bread on the table while apparently doing something people have a bit of appreciation for . . . well, it's pretty amazing to me.

The main point ("message") really, tho, was to say that premising a statement upon the presumption that many or most of the people who visit this thread ignore or neglect real life and real concerns by spending almost all their time gawking at mods can only lead to a false observation.

So I'm the only one :?:

:D

Being serious now, these days it's getting harder and harder to find true craftsmanship in this world. We are a mass produced, cookie cutter society. I enjoy seeing someone who takes such great pride in the quality of their work making unique, functional works of art.

…..while at the same time equally enjoying his unique vernacular. :D

My post was intended as satire. Sorry that wasn't readily apparent. I thought the extreme dichotomy between the two alternative activities might be mildly amusing.

I'll take responsibility for the apparent fact that my post was not seen as a mild parody, conveying the same views as your own.
Eta: Make that "blame." When a politician says he takes responsibility, the actual message is that it's really not his fault.
