you know . .. that watch was first purchased by my great-grandfather during the first World War. It was bought in a little general store in Knoxville, Tennessee. Made by the first company to ever make wrist watches. Up till then, people just carried pocket watches. It was bought by private Doughboy Ernie Coolidge on the day he set sail for Paris. . . .

Back when time served meant that after 30 years you got a gold watch, my old grandfather got one when he retired after such a career at a bicycle maker.

He gave it to me and i'd wear it to high society dinners as i perved the debs. i don't normally wear a watch anyway because i don't care what time it is, but i broke the glass on this one somehow. They were tough girls.

The repair valued it at Holy Really No Way and i never wore it again. i think my mother has it now.
