Hope you're feelin' better Cap'n.

I hope it dies down too, latest models have it coming through as a cat 1 but as we've seen, these things change quickly.

Fingers crossed and praying for South Florida, it's not gonna be pretty there, especially the Keys.
@B2L, according to your banner, your 7-year Vapeversary is coming up in about 3 days. Right? Awesome. Congrats.

Please stay safe Bri & Classy. I'm worried about both of you!

Update here. Water has drained out of the house but the yard between the house and road is still almost 3 feet deep. FEMA adjuster called the house phone today (I'm already seeing how smart she's not) and thank goodness Vonage e-mails me a transcript when it gets a voice message. She wants to meet us there tomorrow at noon so, I'm hoping the water has receded or I'na be wading in poo water up to my hoo haa and I don't wanna.

We will be moving into a rental home on Monday for the duration of the clean up.

Best news EVER? Hubby was told today the water was out of the house and he told his work mates of course. Boss called him tonight and said he had a new job lined up for his crew on Monday, where he asks so he can direct the crew? At your house doing the demo says boss man. I think he was named Angel for a reason.

I made it very clear Walter (the Beavis of the bunch) was to be outside doing whatever he wants but NOT in my house.

So, tomorrow after FEMA lady leaves we can begin to see what can be salvaged and what needs to be hauled out. I think she'll also be the one to determine how high up the wall we need to cut things.

I love you all and the love and support that you all gave me touched me deeply. Thank you so much!

That's so cool you get to the repairs so quickly. The force (whatever that may be) be with you and the family. Hope FEMA gives you good news. $$$ :D

What kinda insulation is in your walls? You need to find out how high the water has wicked up in there and you need to go at least that high. Given what I saw in the vid, I'd speculate you're going to have to go all the way to the ceiling.

I'm no construction guy by any means, but that was my guess too. Given the wicking is common sense, I'm betting the FEMA person will miss that point considering her actions so far (I.Q. matching shoe size?)

Hi all,

Sorry about you all with the floods and fires. Really scary things you see in the news.

Weather here is getting nicer, no more than 30 degrees (C).

You all stay safe!!

Nice to see the Bee is still a masterbuilder (spending time with my kid too much watching/playing/building Lego).

Had a nightmare, all my mods confiscated at the airport. It was horrible ...

Did I wander into the wrong thread?? LOL. There were so many familiar faces it felt like home. And @pdib, just because I don't post here much doesn't mean I haven't been keeping my eye on you. ;)

Well, eye-keeping or no, it's great to hear your voice. :)

today, I'm prepping for the final coat(s?) on the mod bodies. My aim is to have them thar final coats on by end of day; and then to go for final body sands and proofing buff n' polish over the course of the weekend here.

the oil/wax mods have seen their final application of SeaFin, and are resting/curing with a 2K grit sheen. I'll hit those with the 3K and 5K pads as I'm wrapping up the CA mods.

Work has been cutting all the sheetrock there back to 4 feet above floor level - and they only sustained at most 6 inches of flooding, so your place will be ruined Tami, regardless of the insulation.

They had easily 40+ blowers and dehumidifiers operating in there for days and there are still some areas that are not dry. My office was totally demolished today, so i'm on the prowl.

Lego bricks are great fun Aal until you find them in the dark with your bare feet.

WTG Bri, i just passed 5 years myself; what a bunch of old farts we're becoming!

And the electrical. Romex has 2 paper sheath's inside that will wick water up 10 to 15 foot inside the plastic outside sheath and the copper will corrode inside. The old cloth covered wire actually is better in this respect because it can breath and the water will dissipate.
