And the electrical. Romex has 2 paper sheath's inside that will wick water up 10 to 15 foot inside the plastic outside sheath and the copper will corrode inside. The old cloth covered wire actually is better in this respect because it can breath and the water will dissipate.
As someone that once ...... in an electrical socket, i have to say that i have a very healthy respect for avoiding water and electricity ever getting close to one another, regardless of the sheathing.

Corrosion takes longer than electrocution! You'll be selling aluminium wire next! ;)

What kinda insulation is in your walls? You need to find out how high the water has wicked up in there and you need to go at least that high. Given what I saw in the vid, I'd speculate you're going to have to go all the way to the ceiling.
Yes, definitely.

And walls, standard, are cut 2 feet above the water mark.

Hi :)

Hi Bri!

So 2 months ago i bought a 1/4 classic guitar for my 6 year-old son, you know, how you do.

So it seems every day he would play with the pegs instead of the strings.

Yesterday, it looked funny for me, strings were all loose. Then i saw that the bridge is dangling next to it :D.

Not sure if i buy another, or bee up and fix it. 40 euros are not a lot, but I don't want to spoil my kid.

Carry on ...

Hi everyone, sorry I was absent, we've been at the house yesterday and today. Today the Mormon church sent a 7 man/woman team and they worked SO hard all day long and about 10am a guy showed up with his 3 teenage sons and offered to help as well. The amount of work done today boggles my mind. Only 2 rooms left to empty and drywall (in several of the largest rooms) and some flooring are out. By tomorrow night we should be starting up the AC and a few dehumidifiers. That process will take a little time and then the rebuilding can begin. The FEMA inspector was super nice and very helpful as well and told us if the Allstate inspector pulls any nonsense she will come back out and I told her don't be surprised if he's tied to the live Oak and being fed to the fire ants.
Drywall is being taken out period even though they said only 4 feet, I call bs on 4 feet and I was right. The speed at which mold can grow down here is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. Oh and as a side note......the cat that was in the garage at first during the flood apparently blamed our son Rico for the whole ordeal and found his shoes and crapped all over the laces. I enjoyed the bit of entertainment provided when he found them. tee hee
I went into Home Depot today making this my first appearance in public in shorts since I was around 18. Felt kinda bad for the people who's retinas were damaged.
CONGRATS Bri & Trunkie that's an impressive amount of time off cigarettes.
I will be back at the house first thing in the morning to meet the team and continue on, love you guys a ton!:wub::wub:

Bri and Classy you guys better be erring on the side of safety! I'm still worried about it,

I am so glad you have people helping you guys Tami !
We are hunkered down here.
Finally got my folks to go to my sister's house. They were going to stay planted which is why we stayed here.
So...been dragging stuff from outside and the screen room into the garage.
Tomorrow I will make my closet liveable just in case.
