Margaret Atwood writes some interesting books. Mostly post-apocalyptic society stuff. Loaded with symbolism. "The Handmaid's Tale" was made into a movie.

The Handmaid's Tale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Intriguing...I had no idea this movie was that sort of genre. Do you find her books an enjoyable read, as well as interesting? I like that sort of speculative and/or science fiction (new term for me - speculative fiction!), what-if stuff. I enjoyed Hunger Games, for example, and it didn't get too mushy like other "popular" books. :)

aw AG we are not outcast, we are pave layers and trendsetters

Pioneers. All huddled in our vape wagon on our journey 'out west'.

Pave layers works for me, too, Candy! Like that.

AG, I think you did a great job and a wonderful service in that Indy piece.

Hey VALers. I may be taking a sojourn from ECF for a little while. My father is having a heart surgery early in the morning, so I probably will be away from the computer for a while. While I am heavily attempted to buy a pack, I think I'll definitely settle for a nice, big, whomping VAL juice order... or at least big to me :2cool:

Atwood is a wonderful author. Hunger Games was a good book, but kinda mainstream. Atwood is a bit more cerebral. I find myself laughing at things she writes that I'm would go over many people's heads. The Handmaid's Tale was the first book I read of hers. I haven't seen the movie. Oryx and Crake is the first of a two book series.
