0.5 coil became 0.81 after re-wicking. Dangerous?

Just from re-wicking?

It shouldn't have...

You should remove the wick, test your coil to ensure that you don't have hot spots, measure it again to see what the reading it.

Wicking should not change the resistance, so either you've moved the wraps a bit and something's touching wrong, the screws got loose or the wire bent and might break...

But it's a bit weird, if things are as I'm describing, the resistance should have dropped, and not increase.

Possibly that it wasn't set right before, so the wraps might have been touching or the legs not connecting right, and when you put in the new wick, you'd have "corrected" it.

Well, to be honest, I've readjusted the coil a bit by putting a screw driver into it and lowering it so it sits closer to the air hole at the bottom (I didn't touch the screws). I dry burned it at 25watts for 2-3 seconds maybe twice or three times...

Update:
I opened it and poked it with a screwdriver now it shows 0.55ohm lol....

I'm still very new to this... In case something is wrong with the wire/coil kanger mini mod should stop working right? It won't like blow up or anything?

Sounds like you're shorting across a coil. I'm betting that When you re wicked there was too much cotton and you had to force it. You pullled the coil out of shape.
I'd try another dry burn, and give the coil a goood wiggle with the mandrel you used to wrap it. Make sure the thing looks regular and the coils don't overlap.

Thanks for the comment!
I'll replace it with a spare coil tonight.
My question still though... Will kanger mini 75w mod shut down in case something goes wrong with the coil? Or does the short happen so fast that the battery will explode anyway?

The mod and battery should be fine regardless. It's just a coil with a hot spot. This does mean the coil won't work well and will eventually melt through. It's pretty easy to fix. The short will show up as unevenly bright spots during a dry burn. Look for the hot spots and poke at them till it's an even color. I've done fixes for problems like this with just a tooth pick.
