Today I recieved the Hello Ego. Hello are basically a Chinese e-cig manufacturing firm who seem to only sell in bulk via a distribution network.
Before I begin, I didn't order from this company but through a local company in the country I live in (Czech Republic). This local company had rebranded the Hello Ego and were selling it as an Ego Maxx. I only found out it was a Hello Ego because the manual suspiciously informs you only to buy accessories from HelloGroup. With a bit of detective work, I managed to track down the exact product I have.
Here is my unbiased review:
1. Packaging: The packaging is as professional as any other packaging on the market. It comes in a black box that has a magnetic snap down lid. Each item you purchase has its own case, and there is a velvet inlay tray. Just remember, its not the packaging you're going to be vaping!
Contents:
2x 650mhz batteries
1x charger
1x usb connector for charging
1x cone cover
2x atties
10 x marlboro filled cartridges (yuck)
As you can see, its pretty much what you would find in an Ego / Riva / Tornado Kit give or take a few cartridges.
Look and feel: It looks exactly like a regular Joye Ego. The only difference is this the LED is blue and not white. Otherwise looks wise its the same! Weight wise, its feels a little heavy compared to a Joye 510 but you can get used to it.
Switch: My original PV a Joye 510 had a nice solid rubber button. This PV has a slightly wobbly plastic button. Although its not a complete show stopper, its not the most solid switch in the world. I will be looking for alternative 650mhz batteries in future with more solid switches. Add comments please, if all Ego switches feel a little wobbly.
The Cone:: In my opinion the Cone is supposed to be a cosmetic enhancement that should not affect the vaping experience. Clearly the designers of this device had other ideas. With the cone on, its a far more stiff drag. I find this irritating to the point where I remove the cone completely. This is purely bad design imo.
Vapor Production and TH: This pup gives a decent amount of vapor and a nice smooth TH when used with the correct atties or cartos. Regular 510 atties or cartos work nicely. I would say its slightly better than a 510, but only ever so slightly. The differance is the battery lasts longer at a sustained rate of vapor.
The Atties and Cartridges: I'm still wondering why every starter kit has to contain Marlboro flavor cartridges. Honestly it varies brand to brand, but the cartridges taste so crap, I'm going to bin them. The worst part is, they don't even fit in the atty, they slip out. Basically good for nothing. The atties appear to be regular 510 atties, never outstanding nor bad.
Price: Cheaper than a genuine Ego.
How does it compare to a 3.7v PT? Actually the PT gives more vapor. I was expecting a hurricane of smoke, but it is only ever so slightly better than the Joye 510 vapor production. I think its hard to beat a good PT.
Conclusion: Not the worst PV in the world, its heart is in the right place, but the build quality is questionable. Not happy with the switch, and not happy with the cone.
