Pretty new to this, but i been hearing a lot of good stuff on Provari. I say buy a Provari and have a back up of a fully charge battery for now. Then wait for a new version of the Provari with a 2012 technology in it. Then use the old Provari as your back up. It just weird how the lcd on the provari looks like the old 1990's calculator. I think they should upgrade the new ones that would come out with a touchscreen lcd like a smart phone. :2c:

Having said that I have a Provari on my way and it arrives tomorrow. I too was debating on what backup I should get, but I would stay pat and use this one as a back up, when a new ones comes out. :toast:

As others have already mentioned, a backup is essential. As much as I like the ProVari, I'd never consider anything where just one was the option. The potential downside is simply too great. Whatever you decide, make sure it includes at least one backup device. batteries don't count since they're worthless if the device fails.

Good luck with whatever you decide - and keep on vapin'!

Using my Provari for more than a year and a half and counting. No backup to speak of during that entire time. IF I ever needed one, I have the parts and could have my hubby throw a box mod together to get me by.

That having been said, I am saving up for a second Provari, and a Reo to go with my Chalice, just cuz I want them. Also, Provari dropped in water = remove battery + iso bath. Also, mine is still v1, and I have ran 1.5ohm coils on it without breaking it, so I don't get how a 1.8ohm Vivi Nova did... They throw errors and refuse to fire in almost all scenarios...

Not trying to show fanboyism, just my experience.

I have a black Provari mini & picked up a chrome blem as a backup. Both with Blue LED. Folks not wanting to take their Provaris out of the house crack me up. They are tools. They are meant to be used. I take mine everywhere. If the get scratched or the finish starts wearing off so what. They are meant to be used, it just adds character.

Agreed! Not to mention that if it gets so scratched up that it's ugly to look at, you can send it back to Provape and get the tube replaced for only $40.
