10 Dec 13 - The Independent - No Smoke without Ire

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...ut-ire-the-ecigarette-revolution-8994118.html

very nice, positive article

E-cigarettes, as almost everyone must know by now, look and feel like real
cigarettes and are designed to mimic the experience of smoking without the
harmful consequences. They consist of a battery, an atomiser, a heating coil and
a cartridge of liquids used for creating the inhaled mist which reproduces some
of the effects of smoking minus the cancer-causing chemicals caused by burning
tobacco. Product labelling is inexact but most contain nicotine in a solution of
either propylene glycol or glycerine and water, and sometimes flavours such as
vanilla and apple. The atomised mist resembles smoke when exhaled but research
to date has not shown the vapour to be harmful.

The cigarette has been compared to a dirty syringe for taking nicotine – and the e-cigarette as its pin-clean substitute.

Another good quote from the story that goes directly to the quit or die crowd and their "but you haven't quit smoking" BS.

Critics who dismiss e-cigarettes because they do not significantly increase the chances of quitting over existing methods are missing the point – by several tens of thousands of lives a year.

Another good one, whoever wrote this did some research, I think I've seen this discussion or many like it on ECF.

Are e-cigarette users vapists? Is a spent e-cigarette out of smoke juice? How was your "throat hit"? You may accessorise with a "drip-tip" but be careful not to "flood your atty". What should we call cigaretiquette (the behaviour around smoking) in the age of the e-cigarette – vaprotocol?

It's nice to see some sanity put forth regarding vaping, but public sentiment is so irrational, we need much more. The following demonstrates my point:

Before I quit analogs, and was still smoking cigars, my wife and I went to pick up a pizza. As I was standing outside waiting for her, I thought I'd light up a cigar. When I realized I wouldn't have time to smoke it, I just put it in my mouth between my teeth. A lady drove up and parked about 50 ft. away from where I was standing, and when she got out of her car, she saw me and started coughing, gaging and waving her hands in front of her face like she was fanning away smoke. She yelled at me to move away from the door and said the smoke was choking her. When I held up my unlit cigar and said "lady it isn't lit," she in disgust, stopped coughing, gaging and waving her hands, and replied "Well, I don't care, it stinks anyway."

This is simply stated, an example of how unreasonable and crazy people are about the issue of smoking. This person was suffering physical symptoms of trauma from something that didn't exist.

@DonMac:

Jeez that woman was not suffering physical symptoms of anything. She was just acting up. Like a spoilt 2-year-old brat who sees candy in the store, thinks mom will say "no" and starts whining and throwing a fit.

Like this sweet little boy :D

Pity is that such immature, spoilt adults acting up like brats have been tolerated - and even encouraged - for too long.
