OK, So I've successfully converted my 5th analog smoker to e-cigs this month. In doing so, I've been taking notes on each one and trying to come up with a real strategy that works to get people off of analogs and into vaping.

I figured I'd share some of this information with the forum here, both for new vapers and for people who are trying to convert analog smokers over. Here goes, in no specific order, the 10 tips for a new vaper.

1) Convenience is king. Make sure you get a battery setup that's going to last between times where it's convenient for you to charge. A PCC is an absolute essential for 510 users!

2) Order extra juice. Whatever comes pre-filled is fine when you first start out.

3) Try some non-tobacco! Tobacco flavor is great for that comfort period where you still feel all weird about vaping and worried about dropping analogs, but there are some dynamite flavors out there that are really enjoyable.

4) Follow the conversion plan: For the first few days, carry both analogs and your e-cig. After the first few days, stop buying analogs. Try to stretch out your analog supply (your EPIC last pack) by vaping more. Once the analogs are gone, vape 100%.

5) Vape as much as you want for the first month! It's like having your tonsils out - you get all the ice cream you want! Crush all cravings by vaping them away.

6) DRINK WATER! Water helps with both nicotine cravings (which you might get as you go through conversion) and also hydrates you and helps to keep your taste buds fresh.

7) Take vitamins. I recommend that all new vapers start with a regimen of b vitamin complex. B really really helps with my mental state and energy levels which is key for fighting off the analog mental cravings.

8) Keep a backup, just in case. Later, keep a backup to your backup. The $20 njoy npro duo kits they sell at 7-11 in connecticut are perfect backups. Everything is pre-sealed, the battery is pre-charged and it comes with 2 disposable cartomizers. Can definitely get you through until you can get to a charger or an atomizer if you burn one.

9) If it tastes funky, top it off. If it gets too hot, let it cool off. If it isn't producing vapor, blow it out a little.

10) Join ECF and ask questions!

Another tip would be to not get discouraged if you can't quit analogs right away. With some people, it takes a while. I have been vaping for a month and just now went my first 24 hours without an analog. Will I never smoke another one? I don't know. I am taking it day by day, hour by hour.

Yeah great post with a lot of important tips in one place! I'm new, and read the forum for 2 weeks before buying, so I've done everything your list except #4. I went straight from analogs to PV. But I keep an emergency pack and lighter just in case of total equipment failure (like if lose my PCC and everything in it, or if we have an extended power loss and I can't charge the batteries). Fortunately I was not real fond of the cheap analogs I had to buy the last year or so.

And yeah - after trying out my newbie setup + extra atomizer + PCC and deciding it will work for me, I ordered a 3rd battery and a 3rd atomizer. Now I just have to find an all-day juice that works for me.

My solution for this is to keep a pack of the nicorette losenges (formerly known as Committ) as my absolute last stand "zombie apocalypse" option. Being resolute against ever using an analog again, I find these work really well in places you can't vape (like on airplanes, for example) to stem it a bit until you can vape again.

Great tip... !

I need spare of spare.

I actually wish someone told me to get 2 batteries, pack of blank cartos, a charger and few different juices. That's all you need to start, really.

You shoulda asked me! I told those exact same things to a close friend of mine, actually, I ordered the items for her online, and she's a happy camper. She has smoked only one cigarette each day for the last week, her last pack is gone now, and she's only vaping.

You're right -- that's all you really need in the beginning: 2 batteries, a package of empty cartos, a charger, and enough juice to last a while. I gave her my juice mixture, and she likes it well enough to use all the time.

I was just going through this list and thinking, yeah, back-ups for the back-ups, check. Spare batteries, attys...got 'em. But what if the power goes out for DAYS! (It does sometimes here.) Then I remembered, I have a car charger...mwah ha ha... ; ) Must remember to check it out and make sure it works!

So, when are the vendors gonna start selling mini-generators for us, you know - just in case! I'm just thankful I have 2 car/usb chargers, too ;o) one for the ol' PT the other for one of the 5 batteries (6 if you still count the first kit I got, that still has one good batt - after swapping one bad one, either it or the first one have gone bad too).

I'm still so into trying out all my flavors, I can't pick just a couple to bring to work with me. In any given 15 minutes, I might puff about 3 to 4 different tastes. One of those is always the caramel cream from madvapes, but I do need to break it up a bit.
