After a few different attempts at using cotton balls, I've found the near perfect (for my taste) way to cotton wick my Protank coils!

1) Of course, boil the cotton ball

2) Air dry

3) Tight twist small strands of cotton till about 4" long by about 1/32"

4) Take the long tight strand, and double over, LOOSELY twist, and double over again.

5) Repeat step 4 until you have about 2 mm in diameter

6) Remove the old wick from the coil if the coil is still firing well and is clean.

7) Pinch the end of the cotton and twist between your fingers, then feed through the coil.

8) Flavor wicks x's 2 in the same manner as the wick, loose, and doubled over ONCE.

9) Trim the ends, then fluff the cut ends.

10) Presoak the wick and re-attach the tip.

At 2.0 ohms and 7 watts, the cotton is firing beautifully and providing an incredibly smooth and tasty Hazelnut Coffee on the current juice tank. So far, every other proceedure has been ehhhh, so so. I guess the twisted rope method was the key. The only drawback so far is that I'm getting a little bit of popping, but its doing very well otherwise.

Just go buy a roll of Peaches and cream white yarn from walmart. Its 100% cotton, costs like three bucks, and will last a veryyy long time. Its already a quadruple strand so at most depending on what thickness you want, you can double it over.

Ive been rewicking all of my protank heads with it and the flavor boost it gives over silica is amazing, I run it trough the PT coil without doubking it over and then I cut it down and lay another section on top the same way they do the flavor wicks. I dont get any gurgling or popping at all.

a cotton ball will roll out flat and it's easy to tear off a thin strip. I don't boil mine, I use the cotton balls out of a bag. I use micro coils and cotton in but one of my devices. Its easy to take the wick out every few days, dry burn the coil, twist and thread another strip through the coil and I'm good to go :)

This works really well in an evod too. (as well as drippers and genesis rbas)

Sorry donna not trying to jump on your post. This is for who cares about possible health issues:

To any one who is new with cotton and is trying to explore something new. It is highly recommended that you boil the cotton at least once, preferably with distilled water. It will work fine out of the bag without any performance issues. But, that being said, ecigarettes are about harm reduction from moving away from traditional tobacco. By boiling you will ensure a clean vape, and no harmful substances being consumed that could come from manufacturing. Also, when you go ahead and wick your coil(s), make sure you wash your hands. It has been said that sometimes the oils and other minor substances on your hands can cause off tastes. That way if your vape isn't tasting so good, you can cut the cotton and your hands out of the diagnosis.
