So I just successfully dry burned two of my ProTank heads but the flavor wicks on one of them had all but disintegrated. I've looked around and see that I can either replace those using cotton or Peaches and Creme yarn from Walmart. I also read that if I buy cotton that I should get organic. So far so good. I want to emphasize that I'm only looking to replace the flavor wicks at this time. I'm not looking to make my own coils and all that (not yet).

Now, which would you suggest I use? It seems as if the cotton yarn would be easiest, just cut it, place it and trim it when done. Do I need to boil the yarn first or just make sure it's fully saturated before starting to vape (or both)? I haven't been to the store yet to see the yarn (and I'm not an artsy craftsy person) but if I remember yarn correctly from my grade school days one strand of yarn is actually made up of a few very thin strands to make one regular strand (Lordy, am I wordy or what?). If this is the case am I going to use the entire strand or thin it out a little or is that just dependent on the viscosity of the juice I'm using and trial and error? Or would cotton balls, twisted be better? What is generally the preferred method?

Thanks for any and all input.

Yarn needs to be boiled to take any sizing or chemicals out of it that were used in processing. Sterile cotton balls work well, just take a little piece, pull and twist it a bit so it fits inside the channel. I haven't tried yarn and I don't notice a difference between the original flavor wicks and cotton ball flavor wicks.

You could try going without the flavor wicks but there might be a lot of gurgling or leakage. I usually leave at least one in.

I just got some Peaches & Cream yarn today and it's working great in my Evod. I just cut a piece off, stuck it in there, and trimmed it to size. Very sharp scissors are a must. I used the scissors on a barely used Swiss Army knife that I keep in my car.

I didn't know about the boiling concept. I did not do that but all seems well so far.

The irony! I just dry burned over 30 coils this afternoon and replaced the wicks with cotton.....boiled the cotton first, squeezed it out, then squeezed between paper towels and let dry for a bit. It expands like something else, but the vape is outstanding! I'm also getting a better draw and plume off my PT2's. Don't cut your cotton or whatever you are using until you set the "Chimney" and silicone gasket down on the coil and wick, it's easier to cut and it doesn't move all over the place. "Prime" you wick by putting a few drops of juice on it before you screw it onto your tank and pull some "dry" sucks on it, don't fire up your wick. You'll see a few bubbles come up from the wicks as it continues to saturate with juice. :)
