100% PG liquid, anything to be aware of?

I've been mixing 100% PG liquid for a while, because I don't want to coat my electronics with a VG film and I prefer more flavor and fewer clouds. While it works well with fruity flavors, I haven't had any success mixing dessert flavors despite following some of the highest rated dessert style recipes, with the one deviation being the substitution of PG for VG. I vape 0 nicotine, so excessive throat hit is not an issue. I tend to wick hard using the Scottish roll technique (keeping the skin on, 1 cotton pad makes 4 wicks fit for 3.5mm inner diameter coils) and use top airflow, so the lower viscosity has not been a problem for me.

Does anybody else use 100% PG liquids and how have your experience been with them? Have you had similar experiences to what I described or not? Is there anything else I should be aware of when mixing and vaping 100% PG?

As long as you aren't having leaking issues, I don't see an issue with 100PG.

I do wonder, since VG is naturally sweet and PG is not, perhaps you need to add more sweetener (or some different, layering flavors that at sweet, such as merengue or marshmallow) which contain a fair amount of sweetener already to get a satisfying dessert bakery type flavor where you might not need to do that as much if some VG (naturally sweet) isn't present. That would be my advice.

Fair disclosure, I am PG sensitive, so I mainly am dealing with a much higher VG mix. I haven't used 100%PG, but based on what I know about both, that is kind of what springs to mind as far as improving some of your mixes. Etc.

    Good luck,

    Anna

    Just curious.

But what type of Electronics are you concerned about?
I expect anything with a fan is going to accumulate internal VG residue, laptops in particular.

That's a good point, I haven't considered the sweetness of VG when making my mixes. It seems 100% PG is a very unpopular choice among DIY liquid makers, at least when it comes to .................... users, so it's difficult to figure out how to modify a VG-heavy recipe without some experience with dessert liquids, which I lack.

Gotcha. I thought maybe you worked in some Special Environment or something.

I wouldn't really worry about. But if it is One of Those things that you think about, Do what you gotta Do.

Totally agree with Anna on this. I’ve mixed from max vg to 75% pg, and have to alter the recipe to suit the base.

I need more flavor the higher the vg, but less additives (marshmallow, Splenda, etc).

Bakery does work more easily in vg, in my opinion. To get better results, maybe try mixing 30-40 mls, divide it into 5 ml per bottle, and test different adds individually to see what they do.

I let my liquids steep for at least a month,
Might want to try tasting after SnV. Since your mix is high PG, perhaps steeping is not always advantageous depending on the mix/blenders.
Some DIY plastic storage bottles can leach a chemical flavor into the mix. Might place a new mix in glass only to see if there is a difference after steeping.
