hi everyone. Decided to slide over here to diy to ask for your assistance. I've been looking for a tobacco flavoring concentrate with a taste similar to the %100 VG juice Velvet Cloud makes to save money. Burley beard is the title. Unfortunately I've purchased a few bottles I've had to throw out that contain pg. I don't know if I'm sensitive to it but it's unvapeable for me. Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure it's the flavoring or could it be the base that does not agree with you? Most flavorings are PG and the difference is in the way the base is prepared. Try vaping just the base alone with no flavoring added and see if you get the same effect. When starting DIY the first thing you need to do is perfect a vapable base. It sounds like you may need a VG heavy base and not a PG heavy base. Try mixing an 80vg/20PG base and adjust the Nicotine up and down until the base is enjoyable to you. Nicotine is what gives a vape throat hit but to high a level can cause harshness (this may be your issue). After that we can work on flavorings for that base. For help getting started see my blogs.

PG tends to be a flavor carrier. VG sweetens the mix, but mutes the overall juice flavor in my experience. VG is really smooth with little throat hit. PG added to the mix tends to boost the flavor and throat hit.

Throat hit might be what's giving you the sensitive feeling. Try a 50/50 mix and see if that's better. Some like mixes that are mostly VG with 20% PG. We are all different in our mix preferences. I like 70pg/30vg.

As Danny said, try unflavored mix to see if the base is causing your problems. Then, add the nic to the base and test again. After that, try adding flavor to a 10ml bottle of the base with nic.

I guess I'm not that diy. I order 1.5 nic unflavored 100% vg base from ecig express. I can vape it on my own no problem. I even emailed them for a complete list of ingredients. It's just VG and nicotine. I've searched their catalog for tobacco flavoring natural or VG. Cannot find it. Tried Google searches too... Everything leads to a pg/VG flavoring or VG premixed juices. It doesn't agree with me. I'm not sure why. Maybe the quality....? Taste stale or nutty or something... Whereas the VG Burley Beard doesn't.

So if I'm reading you correctly you are saying you can vape the unflavored base just fine and when you add flavoring you then have this issue. You did not go into detail exactly what the issue is. I will assume the issue is, it does not taste like Burley Beard.

You did not mention what flavoring you've tried but from the description of Burley Beard on the site it sounds like a typical USA cigarette blend. If this is the case I would recommend trying Hangsen red USA. This flavor seems to be a favorite among folks that like the typical American cigarette blend. I don't know what your sensitivity level is to flavors so I would start low at 3%. Try it and see if it's in line with what your searching for. If so, but it seems a little weak let it steep for 2 - 3 weeks. Tobacco mixes need time to mature. You can find USA red here.

Nice that's what I'm looking for!
There's a number of pg free suppliers. Medicine Flower, Real Flavors have a vg line, but the really good tobacco's are nets which are done inhouse or use absolutes (another conversation). I haven't looked them up recently but Naturally Extracted Tobacco was doing vg only extractions. They make tobacco sound good and I tend to stay away from tobaccos.

I also have problems with pg and was almost forced to give up vaping until I found pg free eliquids and flavoring. I have found I can tolerate about 5% pg and supplement with super concentrates that use less than 1%. Real Flavor and Vaping Zone (Bull City) carries those. There might be more around. There used to be a sticky for pg free flavors. There is a separate area for tobaccos and they have more info.

Thank you! I'm excited to check out all these. I'm glad you found a way to keep vaping. I enjoy it but something about my reflux and the pg weren't working. I'm sure I can find a way around it too.
