That was my understanding as well. As far as I know, the only reliable 18350s are either 700mAh or 800mAh.

I saw some 700mAh button tops on eBay just now, which they were supposedly eFest IMR, but they were purple...???? Said 10.5 amps, but I couldn't find any amp rating listed for the 800mAh's, so I don't know how they compare.

I haven't seen any 1200's, but got a couple 800 mah efest 18350's. I think their amp rating is around 8. Not positive though.

Oh I've seen plenty of 1200mAh 350s, but they all have "fire" somewhere in their name... I was told to avoid those at all costs.

I don't think there is one; as far as I know all "1200 mah" 18350:s are from dubious manufacturers with wildly inflated mah ratings.

This ^^^. 700 - 800 mAh is the most you can get. Efest has a new 10A 18350 out now at around the same 700 mAh, but I don't know how good it really is. You're also going to get really, really short run time at 10A draw.

AW has a really solid 18650 at 6A which should be good down to about 0.9 - 1 ohms.

Quick research on the highest mah 18350 came back with 1200 but its not that important. To put it simply I'm just looking for the longest lasting 18350 to use in my v5 that i don't have to worry too much about pulling too many amps out of.

Well, you might think the higher mAh of a 1200 mAh ICR battery would be the best battery for a regulated mod like your Vamo but you would be wrong. ICR batteries are low drain output and won't have the amperage needed for the regulated processor.

You'll get optimum performance in a regulated mod with a high drain IMR battery like the red AW or Efest batteries. Again, don't believe the over-rated specs of the XXXfire ICR li-ion batteries unless you like wasting your money.

I like how the word "fire" being in a name is a reason to strike them from the list. Since I started vaping I refused to buy any battery that had the word in the name just because it doesn't sound as safe to me as Sony [model number] or AW [model number]. Just the mention of the word fire in their marketing made me not want them.

From first hand experience, the name "fire" fits: Trustfire2.jpg

I bought these 18650s, and these 18350s, both flat tops, 2250mAh and 800mAh respectively -- and today I also bought these 18350s, button top, also 800mAh -- these will be the pair I keep together for stacking.

Yeah the eFest IMRs cost a *little bit* more than the cheapies with outrageous claims for mAh, but feeling safer that I won't blow my face off or burn down my house??? PRICELESS.

Oh also -- the 18650s and the nitecore i4 charger are both fulfilled by Amazon, and it's just over $35, so you get free shipping! :thumb: :)

I know, how apt is that? It's like, you'd never go to "Dr. Butcher"... or call a plumber named "Mr Flood... ;)

BTW, your avatar pic... looks just like my son on a grumpy morning! Makes me miss him. :)

I agree they're much better choices than the '<something> Fire' batteries Andria :thumb:

Well I know the AW IMRs might be a bit better, but they're also a bit more expensive, so I figured to get started, I'd go with the lowest price *safe* batteries; as much of a tightwad as I am, I far preferred saving some buckolas on the mod, and spending a bit more on the batteries and decent charger.. I know the nitecore probably isn't as good as the Xtar or Xstar or whatever it is, but that one costs out the wazoo; I did ascertain that the nitecore is far better than those *fire ones.

Course everyone round here probably knows by now, free shipping = slooooooow... maybe not as slow as FT, but no speed demon either. Which is too bad, the Sigelei got to me so fast -- no way did I think it would be here Monday, when I ordered it late Sat afternoon.

BigOlNoob, the problem is there is no 18350 Li-ion battery that makes 3 amps safely and has 1200 mAh . If it's IMR it's under 1200 mAh and makes more than 3A. If it's ICR it has more mAh, but less amp capability and is dangerous because it vents with flame when you draw too much power from it. Having a battery burn in a mod is like putting a flammable substance in a tube. If the gas caused by the burn is not allowed to escape fast enough pressure builds up and the tube explodes.

Listen to Baditude, he knows what he's talking about. The V5 puts out a lot of power and is expecting you to put in a reasonably high output battery. Turn it up too high and a protected ICR is going to stop working as long as the protection circuit is good. A unprotected ICR is going to heat up. Get it too hot and it's going to vent. You won't like that. It can make a real mess and hurt you.
