We used to have so many people drop off animals at the pet stores I used to work at.

At PetSmart, I specifically remember someone having left a kitten in the cat trees, and another person left a chihuahua puppy in a crate in one of the aisles.
The privately owned pet store I worked at, we had an open policy, though. People could bring in an animal and we would have it vetted and find it a home. We never sold any puppies/dogs or cats/kittens. They were all brought in and adopted out. My mini aussie was in one of the litters of puppies that were given up. They were covered in dirt and fleas when we got them. I actually almost adopted her sister instead.

But when something this adorable attaches itself to you, it's hard to say no.
