Yeah, everyone is researching em. The storage densities are amazing. Basically, for the e-cig market: the battery part is complete.

No need for mods, no need for passthroughs either. One 510 sized battery will last all day even at 5 volts. (They have a HV standard battery now, but I think it's 280 mah and needs a special atty.) And it can recharged > 1,000 times with little or no degridation. That means 1 standard 510 size batt will last all day and be used for 3 years or more when recharged at night.

No PCC. No passthru. No large bulky mod. Assuming they get the (flow)switch & pcb correct, problem solved.

Which gives the (battery) custom mod market about 5 years of life left, maybe with a few exceptions, like gold plated batteries, rolex e-cigs, etc.

You're right, the cars/phones/computer stuff will drive this to market and make it practical fast. And EVERYONE is working on it, not just the people in this particular article. Wow.
