18490 v 18500

Does anyone know if an 18490 IMR battery can be used in place of a 18500? Or are they completely different?

Generally they are close enough to fit in most mods that take one or the other. If using a Kick or safe fuse with the 18500 it might be a tight fit.

think the 18490 is a little smaller then 18500
had to order the 18490 for provari
but I had also order the chi-you clone takes 18500
and asked in around the forum and what I've been told the chi-you would take the 18490
so I ordered 4 of those
but I would state which mods you are concerned about for more specific answers

The way the battery is named is by the size.

So a 18490 is 18mm x 49mm long

A 18500 is 18mm X 50mm long. It is basically the same size battery, just sold by different company. Aw brand uses the name 18490 and EH, Efest uses 18500.

I use both 490's and 500's in my provari. The button top 490 and 500 are the same size.

Same thing goes for 18650, the 18650 is 18mm X 65mm.

Although, most protected 18650's will be a little longer than 65mm because of the protection circuit.

Thanks for the information everyone. I was having trouble finding 500 batteries so I ordered a 490. I am pretty confident that the millimeter won't make a difference in my Innokin SVD.
