HA! 2 weeks buried in coffee worked! The wood finish smell is gone. I'm happily vaping an 18490...cool.

I love the way these little puppies fit my hand. Vaping coma dead ahead. :)

Congrats on getting to finally use yours, Jeff. They are fabulous!!!!

Boy, am I so glad I read your post. It reminded me that DH's Walnut/Bloodwood door 18490 was still in the coffee. Just got it out. WOW, I forgot how beautiful it is!!!!

Folks not all of the Woodvils will take so long. In fact the Walnut/bw has taken the longest of any new Woodvils. We got a Stabilized and a Curly Oak/co, too and they didn't take as long. Stabilized, surprisingly, took longer than the Oak/oak.

And not everyone is as sensitive as others to the finish odor. Each wood has been different and we have gotten a bunch of new ones.

The Walnut/bloodwood, I put in Zeolite granules, for a week or so, little change, rice for over a week, little change, coffee for two weeks, and it still needed more. So it's been in the coffee for at least a month, and it finally is ready.

DH and I both are extremely sensitive to finish odors.

It's been about a week since he asked me for his. He's been so overworked and tired he forgot to ask me again. I've been sick so I totally forgot. I'll have it ready for him when he comes home tomorrow night. Should be a good homecoming gift. And I'll even do a fire in fireplace for him; probably our last one of the season.

Now to fit it with the best matching, tightest fitting CV Pawn and then stock up on extras. The Pawn is the only DT he likes and he holds it in his teeth, occasionally, when he needs to use both hands, so has to be tight. He's broken three of the Crystal Pawns in past month so have to keep well stocked.

Again, Congrats, Jeff.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

{edit} The Espresso CV Pawn looks FABULOUS!!!! And I just restocked those. I broke one past month and only had one spare. Scary.

Thanks all!

Many thanks, Alice , first for letting me know that I wasn't the only one dealing with this and then for offering the solution.

Wood finishes simply take time to cure. That's the nature of the beast. For those of us that are highly sensitive to them, it can take quite a while for it to fade but it will eventually go away. I'm making friends with my snakewood today - gorgeous! :)
