I am guessing that you are looking at Efest purple batteries. In this case, if you are using a mech mod or high power regulated box then you should go with the 35A 2500mAh, as this is a good 20A continuous battery.

You could also look at the Samsung 25R and the LG HE2 (which is what Efest re-wrapped to sell the purple 35A).
If you can find a VTC5, these are better yet.

If you are using some kind of low power regulated mod, then this probably doesn't even matter and you could just go with whatever battery you like that has the highest mAh.

Only buy batteries from a trusted seller and the difference in mAh doesn't directly translate when talking about vaping products because we don't use the battery till they are drained. The length of time they will last will be much closer than these figures suggest so going for the 35A one is the best bet IMO. More amps is generally safer and the battery will be under less stress too so it's possible it will last longer (more recharges).

Trying to put together a Vamo v5 with a KangerTech Mini Pro tank or an Aspire Nautilus as a first budget APV

Looking at some batteries

the first is... IMR18650 20AMP Chemically Safe Li-ion 3.7V 3100mAh
the second.. IMR18650 35AMP Chemically Safe Li-ion 3.7V 2500mAh

What is the different between the two? The 3100 mAh should last longer I would think but not sure what the 20AMP vs 35AMP means
Both batteries are 20A continuous (even though one says 35A). Since you would be using stock coils in either one of these tanks you will only be needing a 10A battery. Either one of these batteries will work, though the one with the higher mah will last longer between charges.

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

If you are interested in learning about amps and Ohm's Law (which you would need to learn if you were to get into rebuildables), check out Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding Ohm's Law are listed below:

* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

Don't get the mini--get a regular size Aerotank--V1 or V2, they are both great and vape better than the minis, which are only 14 mm in diameter and come with an eGo threading, because they were designed to be used on smaller batteries. You're buying a full size mod--get a full size 510 threaded tank for it! And don't forget extra coils!

I like AW IMR batteries myself. I buy them from RTD Vapor. You'll also need a good charger--Nitecore and Xtar are very popular around here.

Good luck.
