long story short got a quick taste of vw with the itaste vv v3, so decided to try the evic which has not left my greddily little paw since last week (and now waiting for the smoktech zmax with efest 18650's and charger). I went digging and found a 18650 samsung and two 18650 joyetech's......in reading up on both are they not essentially the same? or is there something i am missing? Also (yes this is where pictures are handy)....

joyetech.jpg Here is one of the joytech tops which i have stored properly since i last needed to use something this size (go me)

samsung.jpg This is the same sung that i guess i did not store properly (Damn it!)....i am curious if this is still safe to use een thought he top seems to be moved all the way over to one side, or should it be properly burried in a battery recycling location?

I can't tell that the bottom one's nipple has been damaged by moving to one side. But if you know it has then for sure I'd say recycle it. Definitely better safe than sorry when dealing with these. I'm assuming that you've used both of these batteries before in an ecig and therefore you know that both are high drain and are safe to use. Really just comes down to visual inspection and voltage reading. As long as there are no dents, tears or bumps, take a voltage reading to be sure the battery hasn't drained too low. Anything lower than 3.2 volts should be recycled right away IMO. I'm pretty sure that if the voltage drops low enough, it can turn catastrophic. I know these type of batteries should be stored fully charged to help prevent this.

I should mention that I am no battery expert. Each one should be looked up for manufacturers recommendations.

btw, I've been using the efest batteries from canvape and they are fantastic. I've tried both the 2000 mAh and the 2250 mAh. Great batteries at a very good price. Just as good as my original AW's that came with my Provari.

As a second note, I hope the charger your getting is a decent one and not one of those cheap one's that sometimes come with mods.

i have dne the usual visual inspection on the samsung battery...the top seems fine (aside from the batter connection and at the bottom you can see where the evic spring dug itno it (whcih as of last night i replaced the end cap with the ego 18650 end cap, so as it does not grind so much into the bottom of the battery.

The charger i got was the TR-003P4 four bay with a closing lid, which the Efest has a "batch number". This is my first time using thpse as my only previous experience was the AW IMR's and i think some trust fires (ok i was young and foolish now i am just foolish. Whwat i have noticed is that where the samsung gave me two solid days of 7 watt vaping the joytech's give me...hmm i think 15 hrs so far and i am down to 33% (no idea the volts as i have the evic set to tell me what ohms and what it would equate to in vlts while i use the watts

I have the zmax at 7 watt's and it is totally blowing away the evic right now......then again so is the ego t 18650 mod is kicking the evocs ....
lol...

I really recommend to buy an actual voltage meter. Can Tire has them on sale for less than 10 bucks once and a while. Just good to monitor your bats with. Charge them check them. Use them check them. So on and forth. Don't have to every time but should do so time to time. A good charger won't charge them much passed 4.2 volts if even at 4.2 volts. Smart mods won't run the bats down too low either.

stethoscope :)

I used my multimeter quite often at first but not anymore, about all mods now have a volt and ohms checker, everytime I put a new battery I checked the voltage before starting vaping

ah the joy's of using IE9 with no spell checker. Ty for the correct spelling :D Normally i run google chrome or fire fox (what are they now? version 104?)...but it lags me out when i am playing mech warrior inside of second life......

Which reminds me...the info on the screen of the evic (firmware 1.4) i cannot find the battery volatage info anywhere...think i need to have that set through MVR...compared to the zmax with the efest 18650 battery set to 7 watts going through a 2.2 ohm evod or protank?///////woof i can see what i have been missing all this time and think i might have to sit down and offer up my ego 18650 mod + the evic just to get another zmax mini with extension cap on it OR start saving so at long last i can buy my unicorn (provari)
