Hey guys i got a laptop battery and wondering if the batterys inside witch are 2000mah 18650 li-ion rechargables would be safe to use in an ecigmod? Thanks guys let me know!
I wouldnt use them either. Lithium-ion is somewhat of a catch-all term for any of numerous types of lithium-based batteries. Laptop batteries are probably lithium-cobalt and have no vent hole on the battery positive terminal. For apv mods, you want to use lithium-manganese type cells. Cobalt cells can explode, while manganese cells will only vent.
on top of what is alreadyposted which is true, the laptop batteries do not have the amperage rating of the batteries we use. and are usually very low amp batteries around 2 amps or so, we should not use under 10 minimum.
If you're vaping 6-9 watts (like the vast majority of vapers) Efest IMRs are fine and cost less than AW. For 18650 the price for Efest is so close to AW you might as well go with AW. Xtar chargers are a good value. I have a Trustfire TR-001 purchased for Li-ion flashlight batts several years ago. No problems with it. I still use it for vaping IMRs up to 18500s. I find the TR-001 too slow for charging 18650s.
Alright. Nah im a low volt guy. I'm running a 1.8ohm at 3.5v. I just swapped out to an SVD but im still getting a burnt taste if I go any higher than 3.7v. Before I was able to vape at 3.7v easy with a 1.8. I ask mostly because I ruled out the unit being an issue along with the coils/wicks (i've swapped out atleast 6 wicks and all produce the same result). I was starting to think it might be the battery causing it some grief. I currently have 2 IMR 18650s along with the TR-001.
