pulled the trigger on ebay this morning and bought a vamo v5. it did come with a 18350 battery and a cheap looking charger but im not sure how I trust it. I know that everyone has their own opinion on brand, mah rating and battery size but I think im pretty set on aw imr 18650. need a TRUSTED retailer to get these from and also a recommendation of a decent charger.

IMR high drain, safe chemistry batteries. NOT protected ICR Li-ion.

IMR batteries are all unprotected.

A short list of quality batteries that would work well in your application.:

Panasonic ncr18650pf
AW 18650 2000mAh
Samsung he18650 20r
Sony us18650vtc5

The vamo can use 18350 size batteries also.
It will accept button top or flat top. The manual states you can stack two 18350 batteries to get the vamo's full output. I have not tried this as it works just fine for me with a single 18650 battery.

so the vamo came in this afternoon and its great. I love it. and eventho I was pretty set on the aw imr18650 batteries ive since decided to go with the sony vtc5 18650. now heres my issue: ordered 2 of em from RTD vapor (for a surprisingly reasonable price) but didn't have enough left over for a quality charger. the vamo came with 2 "generic" 18350s and a generic charger. the general info I can find on batteries always says not to use the off brand generic batteries but do you think it will be okay until the sonys come in? since its not a mech mod and I will not be using anything below a 1.8ohm clearomiser, it should be okay right?

I wouldnt stack them thats for sure!

if they are icr 18350's I would (and this is me and me alone) probbally load a 18350 and test the vamo out.

I dont think I would be comfortable with really using it.
thank you for your help. I decided to go down to my local madvapes and bought a Panasonic ncr18650 to use until the sony comes in.

Which model of Panasonic NCR18650? There are a few different models, and a couple of them shouldn't be used in an APV.

The Panasonic NCR18650A 3100mAh and Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh batteries are not high-drain batteries. They are a hybrid chemistry that are more ICR than IMR. These were designed for low drain applications like a flashlight.

The NCR18650 PD or PF 2900mAh batteries are fine to be used in either a mechanical or regulated mod. High drain and safe chemistry.

ICR batteries really should not be used in any mod in this day of modern battery technology. Read the blog in the first link that I posted above.

Batteries are the most important investment that you will make in vaping. This is not the place to pinch pennies.
