I have some Sony VTC5s and I am wondering if there is a problem with my setup.

I charge them on a Nitecore i4 and take them off as soon as I see all three lights solid.

I am using a 0.4 ohm coil on a mech mod and it seems as if I only get half an hour of chain vape time?

After that half an hour, I throw them on the charger and the 2nd light is blinking, with the 1st solid.

Is this normal?

I also have some purple efest 18350s that do the same thing after about 10 minutes...

Thanks.

Well, you are asking for quite a bit of power @.4 ohms. 10 amps or so per pull on it.

Measure some voltage when they come off the charger. Should be 4.2 or so. Measure when you notice a drop in performance. That measurement will allow you to find how discharged your batteries are.

It really does depend on how many total seconds of draw. If you were to time it, you may be surprised at how much in mAh you have taken from that battery.

You are using your battery at 10.5 amps and 44 watts with that setup. That is a lot.

Is it dual coil as well

No, I'm just running a single macro coil.

I am picking up a multimeter tomorrow to do some testing. It just seems like I'm getting almost no time before a drop off. I take 5 + second hits.

Edit: How low can I let the battery voltage get before I need to charge it?

Using the Steam Engine battery drain calculator, a Sony VTC5 with the following input data:
2600 mAh/30a MCCD/11.5 'C' (estimated)/4.2v max/3.8v nominal... when used with 0.4Ω resistance should provide:

Estimated total runtime = 13 min
Estimated # draws of 5 sec. per draw = 161

YMMV ;-)
