I do not know why but vapers have become cheap MOFOs. Skimping on the most essential (batteries and chargers) while shelling $200-300 for a mod without bating an eyelash. What is wrong with this picture? You owe it to yourself to buy the best when is comes to batteries and chargers.

I didn't order a second Trustfire TR-001 because I'm cheap. I ordered it because I'm impressed how well my first TR-001 is holding up going on 3 years of continuous use. For a couple years I only used 18350s and had to charge several a day. That's a lot of charge cycles. Not only does it meter spot on but the springed batt clips still work like new. It has been outstanding.

Hope I didn't just jink my newly ordered TR-001:)

You are lucky, I had two of them go bad in three years. I still have one for backup. That may last since I don't use it. As for long term reliability I don't expect any of theses chargers to last more than a year or two.

Sad to hear...

Then again bargain basement shoppers get questionable products.

In my most humble opinion, a good charger and batteries cost a carton of smokes! It is a one time investment compared to combusting tobacco which was money going up in smoke.

Intellicore has a bad rep, regardless of V1 or V2. Those that love 'em have the odd ball not the other way around. How many bad reviews or comments has anyone seen on Pila or Xtars? The old Trustfire TR001 were a good charger (3 yrs ago) these days questionable at best.

The XP4 is a nice charger, you may want to consider the VP1 as it has the ability to resurrect a battery SAFELY that has been vaped below its low voltage threshold. That being said, if anyone knows if the XP4 has the same capability, please chime in as the XP4 is new to the market.

What part exactly is "Sad to hear"? As I mentioned I was under the impression is was getting the best batteries and best charger based on the information I had read at the time. I didn't buy any batteries from China, i wanted to be sure I got them from a reputable dealer. And now see that the batteries were most likely not the issue, it was the charger. As I mentioned, lesson learned. I will buy a Xtar from RTD...TONIGHT. As well as some AW 18350's and the head over to kidney puncher to get some Samsung 18650's. Then I should be good to go. As far as looking for the best price, I'm not looking for a $100 item for $10. But if I find a reputable vendor I have dealt with before and they sell the exact same item for less, why would I pay more. I read a lot on hear and put a lot of stock in user opinions. It's the same as vehicles, some like Ford, some, Chevy, some Dodge. Each believes their brand is the best, but that doesn't stop them from shopping different dealers to find the best price. With vape gear, as with vehicles, there are going to be lemons.

What's the issue?

If a cheby 350 had the same cylinder wall clearance as my nemmy switch it would burn about 1 quart oil per minute while cranking starter.
In addition to excessive switch cylinder play the switch contact surfaces came with fairly deep machining marks.
I removed machining marks but don't have solution to correct the loose fit.
I installed a lighter spring which helps.
I've used lithium grease but haven't tried axle grease yet.
If I don't press dead nuts center it binds.
Worst switch I've experienced to date.

I can shim to reduce throw to 0.5mm and it works fine w/ Samsung 18650-20R; practically a touch switch.
Problem is my sony batts won't work w/ short throw because bottom isn't flat; sony will autofire.

Maybe my sony batts are gonna have to be lonely:(

Never said you were. As stated in my post the TR-001s of 3 years ago were/are of better quality than the ones on the market today.

Wow, I have two of these. One binds a little so I have magnets on the way from supermagnetman. It supposed to make it smooth as butter. The one that binds fires when I find an area on the side to push. Pushing in the middle it won't fire. The other I have is much better, but still clicks and grinds on rare occasions. Hopefully the magnets make both work perfect

So you have a lot of play in the area where the bottom section goes thru the brass piece? I'm not sure you can fix that if that is the issue.

Yeah, the hole in the brass is too loosey goosey. That clone is so close but no cigar. You'd think switch tolerances would be on the QC list.

I really flattened my star washer w/ hammer and now my sony batts work. The switch throw is like a piece of paper. Fun to vape but I'm afraid to sit it down.

Exactly. In three years time the TR001 has been reinvented a good half dozen times, yet TrustFire insists on using the same model number. Your brand spanking new version soon to arrive will have a 3v/3.6 volt choice of operating modes - with no instructions provided as to why it now has two operating modes - and will take over 12 hours to charge an 18650 2400 mAh battery. Have fun with that...

Mine doesn't have the star washer and the tolerance on the switch is spot on. Maybe your vendor would swap it out.

I found that star washer in my garage and use it for shim to reduce throw and minimize binding.

Last night I polished the sliding post of the switch and that cured the scratchy switch. In stock form (no shim), binding is still possible but much improved since polish.
It is working great now (w/ shim); about 0.2mm throw w/ sony and 0.5mm throw w/ samsung.
I put both oem springs in so I can sit on desk w/o firing.
Near perfect now. If I'm picky I'd complain that switch does wobble roughly 10ish degrees; ignorable.

Anyway, I've really enjoyed my freshly polished Nemmy today:)

Had my beautiful black TR-001 for a few weeks now. Works perfect.

You are right, it does have a 3v/3.6v choice of operation mode switch. I put my 18650 on tonight and light was yellow; it is normally red. I looked at switch and sure enough it was on 3.0v by user error. I switched back to correct 3.6v position and light is now red as should be.
