wtf. i just dropped a smok 18650 2200 mah battery about 2 feet from the ground onto carpet and it sparked like crazy and starred a small flame. i took it out to charge it and accidentally dropped it. i was scared to pick it up after i used rubber gloves and a wood stick to roll it onto a plate and now its sitting in my back year because i dont know how to dispose of it safely. im nervous to put my other battery in and vape now. dont want to loose my head like that guy in florida.

any one know why this happened? have you herd of it happening before? its the battery that came with my e power. im not stacking or anything crazy like that. also should i vape my ego until i can buy some quality batteries? i seriously dont want to fry myself or my pv.

Never heard of a battery just catching fire from dropping. Did you drain it pretty low before you took it out. I'm thinking maybe the protection circuit malfunctioned and let it over-discharge? Did the e-Power shut off by itself, or was it still vaping?

I wouldn't necessarily worry about the other one. If you got a defective battery, it's just the luck of the draw. Get ahold of some good Panasonic protected 3100 18650's. You can find them at Smartvapes.com and Lighthound.com. They're better than the AWs and cheaper as well. I don't believe there is a better battery. Or, you can get a 2250mah IMR CGR18650CH panasonic from the same vendors. It's a safer chemistry battery and only costs about $8.

There is a video in the battery safety pages here on ECF where a guy takes a batt throws it about 8 feet in the air, it hits the concrete and within 60 seconds or so it goes thermal. Just like you described.
I'm glad your ok. I agree with Sailorman about those batts he recommends I have 4 of them and I swear by them.

thanks man ill definitely pick some of those up. im curious on what your talking about with the shut off. the battery was not dead when i dropped it but i did have a problem with it last week. i had it fully charged and about 30 puffs in it stopped working. i set the battery aside figuring it was busted and 3 days ago i put it back in and it was working perfect again. maybe i blew out the protection circuit last week and at the end of the life of the charge when it started working again it discharged? when i dropped it maybe it just caused a reaction in the discharged battery?
