hi guys
I recently purchased a sigelei 50w mod online, when i purchased it i was not aware it requires separate batteries to operate. When i received it, i was disappointed i couldn't use the mod right away since i had no batteries so i logged onto my computer and started looking for a decent deal and i found a set of 4 UltraFire BRC 18650 3000mAh 3.7V li-ion batteries with a charger on amazon for around $10. This deal looked pretty good at the moment so i went ahead and ordered, the delivery was prompt and i received the batteries in 3days and was excited to use my new mod but was again disappointed to find out the batteries i purchased didn't fit in the mod and im totally confused why the batteries don't fit in, when i ordered the batteries i did some research about the kind of batteries i need and went with the same specs in my mind, i dont know if im missing anything and reason for this, any help will be appreciated and would like to know if any fellow bloggers had this issue....thanks.

As you've realized, not all batteries are equal. I would not recommend using any battery with the word fire in it.

If your batteries don't fit, the usual reason is they are protected batteries or you are using a button-top style battery where the mod requires a flat-top style.

You need to purchase safe chemistry IMR (or similar) unprotected cells for your mod from a reputable vendor.

I recommend http://www.illumn.com/18650-samsung-inr18650-25r-r5-2500mah-green-high-discharge-flat-top.html

You'll also need a good quality charger. The Nitecore i2 / i4 or D2 / D4 is a good low cost option.

Do not, do not trust any batter with the word "Fire" in its name, they are ICR (Lithium Ion with a Carbon core) that are known if pushed over limit to fail, "Violently". There are better batteries out there that are a lot safer in their chemistry, IMR and INR hybrids that have better Continuous Discharge Rate (CDR) amp limits, those Ultrafires have a max CDR of 5amps, that Sig50w will go well over that limit in a heart beat. Best batteries out there from lowest CDR to higher CDR you need will be:

Samsung 30Q (High Milliamp and higher CDR of 15 to 20amp CDR)
Samsung 25R (median Mah and a 20amp CDR) would be an excellent match to that Sig50w
LG HE2/HE4 (Equal to the Samsung 25R)
LG HG2 (Very high Mah, 20amp CDR) an equivalent to the Samsung 30Q
Sony VTC5 (Equal to the Samsung 25R)
Sony VTC3 and VTC4 (vtc3 1600mah, vtc4 2100 mah, 30amp CDR)
LG HB6 (1500mah 30amp CDR)

Also get yourself a decent charger by one of these brands
Xtar (WP, VP, VC series)
Efest LUC Series
Nitecore (i or D series)

Liion Wholesale
IMRBatteries
Illumination Supply
Orbtronics
RTDVapor

These vendors should all have authentics and very reasonable prices for both batteries and chargers.

You've got some great advice already ubaid habib. Just wanted to add that you require 20 amp CDR batteries to be able to safely run at 50 watts. More is OK, but you will generally get less run time (mAh rating) on a charge if you go higher.

I also use Illumin.com for my batteries and have been very happy with them.
