the perfumers apprentice has a strong, crazy good peppermint that is NOT oil based. Its water soluble, not sweet, very flavorful, and 1 drop goes a super long way.

As for finding an extract in a local store from the baking isle...i doubt you'd find anything. Those flavorings a usually mostly water/alcohol and dont mix well in juices (i've tried it lol)..

Ty. So the peppermint from the perfumers apprentice, is it good for juice? Is oil based bad??

"Oil-based" would be a flavoring where the base or carrier of the flavoring was something like soy oil. GetSuckered flavorings for example are like this. Soy oil is not good for lungs or atomizers.

The Perfumer's Apprentice Peppermint has a base of propylene glycol and water and is water soluble.

What about LorAnn oils? I see a few vendors use them in their juice.

LorAnn's Oils are just the name... Most (not all) of lorann's flavors are not oil based. I would avoid Oil based flavorings in general. Some people have had some success diluting the oils with alcohol but why bother when there are better alternatives? I'm no expert but would advise sticking with Perfumer's Apprentice, Cappellas (sp?), and Flavorarts to start with. As Max said, oils are not good for the lungs and are generally hell on attys.

I've used PA's peppermint and had pretty good results. If you want it sweet you'll need some kind of sweetner and if you want that kool hit along with try *very little* menthol or koolata (again sp?) ;)

If you're dead set on making your own peppermint be sure to play around with the PG/VP ratios as well as the strength of the flavor. The nice thing about this recipe is you only have one variable for the most part, single flavors are always easier to bring success.

Good luck!

Edit: Here's a great resource on Lorann's ingredients:

Have you tried it yet?

Hey Sorry, been working in the kitchen.

Yes i have tried it and it was just eh. The peppermint flavoring was okay, a little more minty than pepperminty. And the unflavored PG 18MG juice was from madvapes and it was okay, but low on the vapor production. So i guess a little VG would help that, but i found something else.

Toms Vapor has peppermint flavoring that is out of this world. Its like pure peppermint extract. I took that + V4L's peppermint juice and made my own concoction. I did 2 drops of flavoring to every 10 drops of peppermint juice. I also added 1 drop of menthol drops per 20 drops of peppermint. So i took a 3ML bottle, did 60 drops of V4L peppermint, 12 drops of toms vapor peppermint flavoring and 3-4 menthol drops.

To me its amazing. It has a very nice and cold TH. The taste is very good, pepperminty, a hint of menthol and GREAT VP.

I also tried it in some LR cartos and it vapes nice there as well, but the taste does get a bit weird about 1/2 way through the carto. I use the IKV megas, so a normal resistance carto will get me good for 2days, where as the LR Mega carto is only good for about 1/2 a day. So i will most likely stick with the normal res cartos.

All in all my mixture has everything i could ask for in a juice. if anyone is in need of a good strong peppermint flavoring, then i suggest going with Toms Vapor. It was much better than the perfume apprentice's and VB's.
