I got my first starter kit today and am very excited! I read all the instructions and fired it up. My kit is a joyetech 510 180mah (I think) battery and Kanger cartos. I ordered a couple juices plus it came with a bottle of juice as well. I ordered 24mg strength but now I'm thinking I maybe should have ordered a lower strength.

I used to smoke 25 to 35 strong Canadian tobacco cigarettes a day so was basing the juice strength on that but I don't think it translates across like that. Of course, getting something new you want to try it out. Since the kit came with 2 batts and 5 cartos both my wife and I were able to try it. I have 2 more batts and more cartos coming.

I think we might have overdone it a bit since we both started feeling much different after the first hour than we are used to smoking tobacco. I was a bit light headed, and my wife just described it as feeling "yucky". I find I want to pick it up and vape but ten think "maybe I'm getting too much nicotine" and set it back down.

My thinking is I'd like to be able to vape more often, but receive less nicotine per vape session.

Is this common for first time vapers? Is it just a matter of settling down into the new system? I find the throat hit and vapor plume very satisfying. If we can get the nic level right I know this will totally do away with tobacco cigarettes for both of us.

Any advice is very welcome!

Thanks.

Hello kortt. Welcome to the vaping world. There is a big learning curve here. When I first started, I ordered juices in several different nicotine strengths. I vape high strength in the morning then change to something lower during the day. It works for me to change it up.
Keep us informed of your progress.

Might be a bit strong. Save that for when the cravings hit.

There's no real formula but it seems folks that smoke ~ 1 PAD (pack a day) like 18 mg. Folks smoking more, like 2 Pad need ~36 mg. So 24 mg would be for those smoking about 1 1/2 PAD. It really depends not just on how you vape but the frequency too. If you're feeling queezy stop. It far to easy to over do it at the beginning. But your body will let you know.

For the times when you crave a smoke higher nicotine sometimes help. Or do like I did (and many others) and just have a cigarette.

It won't be long before the smokes are gone, everything's out of your system, withdraws symptoms are gone and you find different flavors that you like.

I've been vaping for exactly a week now, and I know how you feel. I ended up blaming the flavor for my "yucks" due to others of the same nic level not giving me trouble despite giving the ego-t the pacifier treatment for the first few days!

I'd order the next step down in nic level and play with it if I were you, and def change flavors if possible to see if the feeling persists. Also drink lots of water! Vaping itself is dehydrating which makes it a good idea, but your body is also in detox mode so that makes it all the more important to flush flush flush.

Congrats for quitting and on the kit! I'm still searching for the perfect juice and feeling the quit yucks too, so you have my understanding on both counts.

+1 on the water suggestion.

Your body is clearing out and weening itself off of the several thousand chemicals you, just like the rest of us, have been giving it every time you smoked an analog. Increased heart rate or a light headed feeling often indicates too much nicotine and taking a step back from the PV and drinking a glass of water always helped me when I felt that way in the beginning. Once your body makes the adjustments, finishes flushing out all those nasty chemicals and you find a few juices you love you and your wife will love it. Congratulations on making the transition and happy vapeing!

Sounds like nicotine OD. You can cut the nic level by adding plain VG. You can get plain VG at WalMart for a couple of bucks. (looks like this and is found in the pharmacy section)

To cut it to 18mg, divide the volume of your 24mg liquid by 3 to figure out how much VG to add (eg. if you have 4ml of 24mg liquid, adding around 1.3ml of plain VG will drop the nicotine level to 18 mg).

To cut it to 12mg, add an equivalent volume of plain VG. (eg. if you have 4ml of 24mg, add 4ml of plain VG to cut the nicotine level to 12mg)

I have to say, the support and advice on this forum are very reassuring. I think that's half the battle, having others understand what you are up against.

I am going to order some lower nic stuff, and try it out. I took advice that several people shared about drinking water. it really does help.

Thanks a ton folks, much appreciated!

That is something I struggled with a bit.

The realisation that hold on I could put the PV down. I was so used to finishing the cig that it didn't occur to me and of course PV's don't run out that quickly.

Yes sounds to me as though you have too high nic for your needs. Just get some at 18mg and 12mg and see which works or even better follow the VG suggestions above.

There is no rhyme or reason to nic levels for each individual. For example I started at 12mg and while it killed most of my smoking urges I still HAD to have 1 or 2 a day. That was a result as far as I was concerned as it wasn't 25 a day. I upped to 18mg and have been basically cig free since.

I smoked Ultra Light 100's. My brother started vaping a couple of weeks ago. He smoked Marlboro Lights. He started at 20mg but is now on 12mg and is good.

Just have fun with it and you will be good.

Oh welcome !

i know im gonna have to learn how to reduce the level of nicotine.. i think almost all the premade ejuice that i ordered is 24mg, and I was a pack every 2 days smoker.. its gonna be a body shock when I vape that stuff.
Pop out to the drugstore and get a bottle of USP grade glycerin. It's really cheap ($2.99 for 100 ml) and is great for reducing nicotine and throat hit, plus it gives you more juice. Add 50% to drop the nicotine level 1/3 down to 16. Try it with a small amount first in case you don't like it.
great tip.. I know i will be doing this !!!

The nic strength of your juice is probably just fine. Just vape until you don't feel like vaping anymore. And don't smoke. You'll be over cigs in a few days.
Vape hard or smoke Cigs.. I'd rather Vape Hard
