Hi all. I recently purchased an Aspire set up for a member of family in the hope they might switch for good to the wonderful world of vaping. I'm impatient, paranoid about their health and a massive control freak, so trying my best not to try to tell them what to do because I know only they can make the change if they want to. Seeing as they started at 17, now the ripe old age of 70, this is no small task (and stubborn at that)

They've started on a a Golden Virginia free sample with an extra tobaco flavour that came free (yet to try, but nervous about the refill) I'm made the first mistake thinking it would actually taste just like a cigarette for them but it doesn't. It's only been 24 hours, and they have certainly said it tastes pleasent, but still seem to love the cigarette smell/taste. Any tips anyone at all has to point said person in the right direction without forcing them to do anything would be great. I just want them to find that special flavour that gets them going & let the magic start working like I've seen in so many others recently.

If anyone can recommend another tobacco flavour, the more realistic, the better, that would be hugely appreciated. This person is on a budget & not really used to buying online but is interested in the vaping world & open to ideas.

Ask them what they like. I don't think any eliquid replicates the taste of a burning cigarette, but it's available in an almost inconceivable varieties of flavors that actually taste good. For a lot of people, it takes a while to make the transition, but sometimes it happens gradually that people find that eventually prefer vaping (whether they intended to or not). I've heard others talk about really needed to want to make the switch before the could. It really varies.

If there's a local vape shop that has a tasting bar, take your family member there and let them sample some.

It's a great thing you're trying to do for someone. Don't get too disappointed yet. It's still early days.

Hi thanks for amazingly swift responses! Thank you NoFumus, I like to think so, not sure they see it that way just yet ;) I assumed it would just make the transition easier, but now realising having read a few more threads it really doesn't have to be just about the tobacco. The problem is he has just admitted quite freely how much he loves the smell/taste of 'analogues' as they're called here. Maybe there is not anything I can do about this, and as you say Robert, just persist & find more flavours he likes. Ive sampled a few of the fruitier varities (ex smoker, not really a vaper tho) + kno how yummy they can be! It was really fascinating the 1st time, we stayed up for hours waiting for the damned thing to charge. The look on their face was priceless! mostly utter confusion, and quite a physcological shift. Heading to the vape shop tomorrow to do some sampling. Got some pretty good recommendations and set up him with an Aspire kit which I hear is meant to be a pretty good starter set up so who knows. Excited :)

Will do :) Just one question if I may.....he's very concerned about the 'coil' running out? we've read online that these can run out and need replacing within 2-4 weeks? If he's a 20 a day type of person do you think this would be realistic? Already planning to get a replacement spare battery. We have no idea if you can mix/match parts from other brands of makes but probably going to stick with this one for now just to be on the safe side.

coils do have to be replaced in tanks, as they will start tasting a little burnt or stop working as well after a while (largely dependent on juice and how much the coil gets gunked up)... always a good idea to have spare coil(s) handy - with the aspire kit you got, what kind of tank does it have - a nautilus tank?

Why does it have to be tobacco flavored? I swapped to cherry very rapidly..
My neighbor who initially got my interested in this whole thing went to a grape flavor from Marl*** cigarettes, very enthusiastically. I'm less than 2 months till my first year of vaping, and he's 3 months or so ahead of me. For what it's worth, I prefer a Key Lime flavor with a little Perique kick..

Hello again well day 2 he seems to have smoked a bit less in comparison & is liking being able to just pick it up when he fancies & smoke in the house without anyone yelling at home. Went to try some different flavours today n discovered hes only started on 6 mg, instead of the normal recommended 18mg for 20 odd a day smokers! Also after being incredibly stubborn finally tried a lemon & lime + fruits of the forest and...guess what......'hmmm well that's pleasent' !
Proceeeded to purhcase 5 spare coils 2 new tobacco flavours + the lemon n lime. Now waiting for it to charge n empty the GV so he can refill with a new one. Alll progress I guess, plus he had a good chat with the guy in the store who gave pretty much the same info Ive fed him with last couple of days & also his own personal testimony on stopping. We shall see.

Also...the novelty of being able to turn if off rather than smoke a whole normal cigarette seems to be very appealing!

I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. X didn't start discovering more and more of these little perks, even before he starts to discover he feels better. I imagine you're feeling at least a little happy about this progress?

If Mr. X wants to try some variations on the tobacco flavors, VaipingWatch website is clearing out their stocks of River Bottom Fog Sauce, most of which are NETs (naturally extracted tobaccos). The 30ml bottles, which go for about $20 are $5 right now for what's left and this weekend orders are free shipping for over $25.
