No, you don't. Those old instructions do not apply to Li-Ion batteries. As soon as the light turns green, you're ready to go. You can even vape right out of the box--they arrive partially charged. Just vape away!

Li-Ion batteries also like to be recharged often, before they run competely out of juice.

My average, after just under 2 months of constant use is running just over 4hrs if the Riva batt is drained to the point where the button light blinks fast.

Both batteries, and the charger, have performed flawlessly since they arrived. I couldn't have asked for anything more.... ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE!
