OK, so once I decide on the battery (leaning towards this KGO V.V. 650mAh) Thoughts?

Then I can go with the Protank and/or ViVi Nova, BTW is it practical to have both?? I will have to find out what an evod is.

Originally after my 1st "Google" on e cigs, I had decided on Halo as mentioned above, is it worthwhile to have a smaller backup like this??

Myrany what do you mean by "2 juice devices" as in flavors?, or carto/clearo??

I did inhale on the Ego T, like I would a normal cig, thanks for clarifying that, makes sense and have never had that explained.

2 juice devices at least

so 2 Protanks, or 2 vivi's or 2 evods etc or realy one of each

Just dont get only 1 device as you would have no backup if for instance you dropped your protank and it shattered.

I'm blue collar as well used the ego and first time I lifted something and forgot my ecig was in my pocket it snapped completely into 2 pieces I bought a provari very pricey but man it's durable use with atomizer of your choice and drip tip find a juice you like and vape on as for the coughing from my personal experience and a lot of reading its quite normal your lungs are trying toclear themselves like that early morning hack all smokers have after you sleep. Guess what that goes away after a few months

bnrkwest Thanks for the added tank link

Myrany Thanks for the clarification, now that I read your reply, it's a Duh moment for this newbe.

So a will need several "tanks", that makes sense and the prices are fairly reasonable. My son tells me there are a few vape shops here in the Dallas/Ft, Worth metro, so I think I should pick a rig, then head to one (his friends use vixon vaper) and they have in-house samples.

Sound like a plan??

I am still thinking one "big gun" rig, and a smaller one, or is that practical.. Halo Triton sounds like a nice stand alone, how is it size wise on average? (only thing I have to compare too is the Ego-T and it was around 8" the way my friend had it set up)

You guys have been great and I haven't even started on Juices:laugh:

Thanks for that! That is what I was worried about, I wont be crawling, but do allot of bending over at times.

Odd thing, I dont wake up coughing and hacking like my older friends, Doctor said my lungs look good for that many years of cigs, but he said I have already pushed my luck, soooooooooo

I may be way off base, but a couple $100 bills is cheap compared to a coffin and I've long passed my "free limit"

Welcome to the forum and congrats on quitting, I think for the best chance of success the minimum battery to go for is some type of Variable Voltage at at least 1000mah, I personally use the Ego C twist and couldn't be happier. You will want several cartomizers or juice delivery systems to top that battery, I was a 2 pad a day smoker and started two months ago at 24mg nic juice and now I am mostly using 18mg but I still keep some 24mg around. Have back ups for your back ups, get quite a few sample juices, you probably won't like all of the juices you try. Don't forget to drink plenty of water as vaping is dehydrating, good luck on your vaping journey!

The Glv mini looks interesting. Is it metal?

Have you been worried about pressure on the 510 connection in your pocket? It seems like a potential issue.

What mha rating are the batteries? Does it only take the CR124 or are there other sizes?

How long does one of those batteries last?

even though the gripper is made of cheap plastic and can break if you drop it, I'd still recommend it, it's small, well made, fire button well positioned, comfortable and it's price is very good, haven't found something better yet actually. Watch out for the iTaste, very tall... with a big atomizer I doubt it fits in a pocket !

Western, you and I are probably about the same age and I spend a lot of time outdoors, too. I used to spend a lot more time on construction sites than I do now (kinda miss that, but not too much!). I also smoked for almost 35 years and while I never got to 3 PAD, I could easily do two, especially if I was just sitting around the office trailer signing timesheets, invoices or wandering through site on a QC inspection.

I would definitely recommend eGo type equipment and at least two 650 maH batteries. You might even consider upgrading one or both to a 900 or greater. Holds a charge longer, which is great for those sun-up to sun-set days.

The Kanger EVOD is a great tank. It holds 2ml of liquid and it's a little more rugged than the ProTank. Mine is burnished stainless steel. They're cheap, too. One costs about the same as a pack of premium smokes.

I also concur with the advice to wean yourself slowly off of the combustible coffin nails. The cravings become much more easy to deal with as time goes by, but there is still nothing in the world like the flavor and sensation of burning tobacco and a lung full of rich tobacco smoke. The mornings will be the hardest early on, and I finally stopped burning one at daylight about a month ago.

I would also stick with tobacco (or menthol) flavors at first to trick your brain into thinking that nothing's changed. You don't want to try replacing a Newport or Marlboro Gold with something that tastes like it came from the dessert bar at Golden Corral. At least not right away. After you've evaporated a bottle or two of regular tobacco flavor, then maybe experiment a little.

Guy's I am blown away by the comments and help.

Never thought about the "hydration" part!.

I wear a traffic vest, so pockets aren't a problem, vest sure the heck is in the summer. I will never put whatever I get in a pants pocket. I generally wear a pocket "T", but those pockets wont work. I'm thinking the vest pocket will be perfect. I also have to travel, sometimes to other states, so the extra battery advice is making more sense in every scenario.

As long as I stay in the 510 thread realm I should maintain good flexibility correct?

Again, thanks and hopefully this thread will help another in my position down the road (me Included)

Welcome to the forum! I was a 2 PAD guy for 38 years and also work outside. I vape like a mad man so having my ecig on a lanyard really helps. I took the C clip off one of these and put it on a short dog tag type chain:
GotVapes Logo eGo Lanyard 19inches - BLUE [gotvapes-egolanyard-BLUE] - $5.99 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

You'd want one of these sleeves: http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68_138&products_id=944

Or this one: http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68_138&products_id=944

if you use a carto tank. I say carto tank because I can't get any of the clearo type tanks to wick fast enough for me so that's what I use: http://www.madvapes.com/dual-coil-510-tank-cartomizer.html

Always carry extra battery, the more mAh, the longer they last, some recommended you an 18650 battery, those are pretty much the best in term of size and time they last for vaping. 650 mAh is really not enough, 900 is a good start, over 1500 it's pretty good.

Pretty much everything now is either a 510 thread or eGo, others are more rare than they were in the past like the 808 or 910, lots of devices offers both 510 and eGo threading but yes, 510 is perfect for flexibility, most atomizers are 510.

Hi Western, and welcome to ECF! I think it's a great idea to visit a vape shop (I'm in Collin County, and we're lucky to have some good shops in the DFW area). If you're totally new to this, there's a lot of value in actually looking at and holding the various batteries, tanks, etc. Doesn't mean you have to buy, but it's a great way to get an idea of what you may like. For juices, absolutely visit a shop and do some sampling! You may be really surprised at what you may like, and you never really know until you taste it.

Best of luck to you, and congrats on the beginning of your vaping journey :) We're here to help, so don't hesitate to holler if you need anything!

I'll just throw in my 2 cents. Most of what's mentioned here is not really "pocket friendly"...so don't expect to throw a big battery with a clearo or tank into your pants pocket. If that is your intention, look for a good solid case or get a small ego and a simple cartomizer. All I'm saying is a lot depends on how you intend to carry and use your device. Will it' be used occasionally, or will you carry it in a toolbox or something...these are all important in deciding what device you will need.

Thanks for the lanyard idea! ,that looks like a great idea! at least an option to have on site.
After looking, there are quite a few vape shops here!!who knew ! I think I will take the advice to go see what they have, good to know what I'm dealing with.

I am seeing a couple set ups as being the best option The GVL2? is Aluminum I believe, used only 2 batteries though, not sure if that power correlates to the higher powered bats y'all recommended.?

510 connections will fit a lot of various types of atomizers. You'll be able to get an adapter for 510 to eGo which will round out your options.

It would be completely fine to start with 2 eGo batteries. I'd recommend the eGo twist models as the ability to alter the voltage has the ability to tune how much vape you get. I prefer a lot of vapor so the twist is a big help for that.

2 650s or 900s will be enough for you to start making the switch.

I can say once I transitioned to vaping for a few months exclusively, cigarettes became unattractive.

So much so I bought a pack once just to see what I was missing, and I couldn't believe how foul they tasted.

I loved menthol, Newport specifically. If you need juice recommendations for Newport, try Goodejuice house blend menthol tobacco.

If you need something tobacco like, that doesn't taste like dry ashtray, try Goodejuice wrangler or wild turkey. They are made from real tobacco using an extraction method. So the taste resembles a good tobacco moreso than the many many artificial tobaccos on the market.

Ahoy's post (#4) is good, pretty much what I would have said.
One thing I have found is that I don't particularly care if I have to have the odd analogue because of circumstance, dead battery, whatever.
After a few months I found I really didn't like them. Obviously they stink, hair, hands, clothes, but I found them kind of weak and bland.
I can get a much better 'hit' from a PV and switch flavours in a blink. Also, being somewhat older than 23, even with VAT, I can't shift the subconscious feeling of flipping 'that' coin when I go near them, images of running through a cornfield on a sunny day with a grey beard, bandanna and a big smile or lugging my oxygen supply behind my wheelchair, in a little cart with a squeaky wheel. Gives me the yips.
