Ok went to RS bought some items to build up my 1st mod

trying to make 3.7/5v mod
Items:

submini push button 0.5@125vac/250vac
470ohm resistor
+5vdc volt regulator
circuit board

now i do have a old 4x aa box that i could mod but saw this on clearance for $2.00

Amazon.com: 8 LED Flashlight (4 White LED, 4 Red LED, 1 Laser) w/ Pouch: Home Improvement

i was hoping to have someone walk me through a wiring diagram..

few questions:
can i use a old 510 battery connection?
is there a way to use the battery holder inside the flashlight to make more slim line?

yes you can use an old 510 batty connection.
your switch rated to low for a 5v box, need 3.0 amp or close
rat shack 5v regulators are rated at 1amp max and thats to low also, it will heat up so fast and cut out and eventually die out on you DONT USE IT.
To make the battys fit in the flashlight I use 1/2" sch 40 pvc pipe to make them fit nice and snug, just cut legnth.
For the regulator go to madvapes.com they have a nice 5v 3amp ldo regulator thats what u will need. They also have switches and rat shack has 3amp switched also.

So I got my 5v box but running into issues not getting power from one leg on the voltage Im using the 14500 trustfire batts reading 7+/- also can get reading on everything but the control leg. According to the photos on thier website.

On the 2nd hand what is the proper way to attach the atty.... photos would be very helpful

The rat shack doesn't have ANYTHING that is suitable for our needs!!!!!!!!

Thats actually not true. I've been using a switch from there with exactly the same specs as mentioned above in my 5v passthrough mod without fail for a while. Works awesome and I use it all day every day at my desk...
