Yes its normal.... Probably be coughing badly if you had quit with nic patches or meds. y

Your respiratory system is going through a big change. Not only physically but chemically. Your bronchial passages are healing and cleansing and mucous membranes are very sensitive right now.

I had some friends for years that every year they'd make an effort to quit. Every year they got horrible flu like symptoms and a horrible phlegmy cough. They always started smoking again because they said being healthy was making them sick.

You might have a temporary reaction to the PG or VG or specific flavor. Try to have a light flavor handy or have just a 50/50 no flavor for a rest.

It will take a while for your body to get accustomed to quitting and your bronchial passages to heal. Depression, sleeplessness, agitation are all part of not smoking. You will go through withdrawals from all the other ingredients in the cigarettes.

Keep your vaping simple and stress free and things will get better. For some its easy, for others its harder.

And yes I was a smoker. I spoked about a pack a day

Sometimes it's harder to mouth to lung and just seems easier to do lung inhales but ya your going to be coughing for at least a couple few weeks, then you will start to get your smell back, then taste, then stamina ..............

Yea, it seems a lot easier with a straight lung hit.

I start my day with tootling my menthol on an Ego-style batt in a clearo with a 1.6ohm coil. Goes good with the coffee too. Can't do the bigger hitting first up in the AM without coughing on it. Once I'm rolling though, I'm good for the day.

Since you just started vaping (whether you're still smoking cigs or not) it may take a while to make the adjustment. Cigs will suppress your cough reflex so that may be part of the equation too - your body may be reacting to the vape and trying to get the smoking gunk out of your lungs because of it.

I've only been vaping for a few days, but when I vape for the first time of the day or after I take a break for a while and start back, I get a crazy cough for the 1st few hits. Is this normal? And will it ever go away?

Since you are not smoking analogs now your body may being trying uo did itself of the tar, potassium nitrate and other nasty chemicals in the cigarettes

Wait a week and see if it goes away. If not you may have a problem with an ingredient in your juice.

I personally don't enjoy mouth to lung as it tends to sometimes make me cough a little.

and if I tried a direct lung hit first thing in the morning even after over 4 years of vaping I would be coughing my lungs up. Just goes to show that we are all different.

For me it was week 3.

I was smooth sailing quitting the smokes cold turkey and vaping at 12mg. Week 3 I felt like crap and I went to 6mg and even 3 and it didn't help.

The week after I was great at 3mg subohming and 6 on my Nautilus tanks.

Might take a month to find your balance.

You may want to try to basically sip your vapor. Just small amounts at a time. I still have to do that first thing in the morning. You don't actually have to pull the vapor down into your lungs to get the effect of the nicotine. It is actually absorbed in your mouth and nose. Try drawing it into your mouth and exhaling through your nose. Even as long as I have been vaping I still don't pull it down into my lungs since it isn't really necessary.

wishing you lots of good luck on your vaping journey :)

Dramatic change to what the body has come to expect. I had the same problem and after 45yrs. Smoking, I still need a kick-start to get my lungs working in the morning. Often the first draw or two causes a cough. then I'm fine the rest of the day.

Sooooooooo much better than when I smoked and Hacked all day.
