1xaa box mod w/14500 trustfires

I just bought 3 of these boxes, the trustfires fit with some modifications on both ends. You have to remove the nubs on both sides that hold the battery cliips in place.

On the second one I threw together, I put one of my AWS 14500's in it and it was fine with just a simple cutback on the positive side.

Don't know why I'm posting this except it may help someone out if they decide to build one.

I still have one more to build and it's getting a trustfire. I can take some pics of the modifications you have to make if you want to post them somewhere.

This is interesting. I made one using a Trustfire........ but what is an AWS 14500? What's the AWS stand for?

I got it wrong, it's AW not AWS. I don't want to drop a link to another vendor here. They are an extra protected 14500 size battery except I think 2mm shorter. Downside they are 750mah, upside, they seem to last longer than the trustfire no matter what logic says.

Hoog had a tutorial on making them on his old 'How To' page, seems gone now.

That was the first mod I built, following hoogie's how-to. The tact switch in mine went bad after a couple of weeks tho. I had to cobble in a ridiculously huge red button from RS. It worked, but 75% of the button assembly was sticking out of the box. That switch has now been reassigned to my happy new 18650 flashlight mod, and the old box awaits a new switch.

Awesome, no need to post pics then. My Trustfire was a very tight fit even after I did what you did in your tutorial. It does fit though, I'm vaping it now. I really like the size of this thing. Big enough to have a lasting battery, small enough to cup in my hand.
