I know literally nothing about your device since you didn't mention what device you want to fuse, but you can automotive fuse mod your negative contact on just about any device that uses a spring. pdib has posted some things about that here and there on ecf.
IMHO, if you're convinced you must build lower than 0.5 ohms to get a satisfying vape, then use a high wattage regulated device. You'll have the power you need and also have short circuit protection of a regulated mod.

Cheers guys. No I just meant that I would have thought by 2016 I would be able to use a safety fuse like the 2cents in any mechanical mod and you be able to build low. It's not that big of a deal anyway but I just wondered. Thanks
