Hi guys and gals! I've been watching the forum for a while, but it took a real problem to actually make an account. I hope you all can help me out a bit? (forgive me if I'm not using the correct terms, I've been reading a learning but I still have a long way to go!)

Okay, complete newbie to vaping. I bought my first vape a little over two months ago. Everything has been great. Until this morning. I have a ecto 1100 passthrough vape. So I need some help.
This morning, I pulled the battery off of my charger, cleaned out the tank, changed the coil, filled with a new flavor and left for work. Everything was clean and good to go. Driving to work I was able to hit it twice before the button started blinking yellow at me (it's sign that something is wrong). Perfect. It's done this before, usually because I've flooded the battery connection. Stop on the side of the road, clean the battery and put it back together. The button lights up green to tell me everything is okay and we move on. Get to work and try to vape again, two hits and it's flashing yellow. Damn. I take it apart, check the coil, check the battery, everything seems okay, put it back together and it's green again. Awesome. Five hits later and nothing. No smoke, no lights, nothing. Okay. Maybe I forgot to plug the charger into the wall and I killed it. Plug the battery into my work charger and the usb passthough lights up blue like normal, BUT still nothing from the battery. Normally on the passthrough when you push the button it will light up green, yellow, or red depending on how much charge it has, I've got NOTHING. Put battery on charger for a few moments, it now thinks it's fully charged but STILL won't turn on. :(

Now at this point, I know all batteries will die eventually, but I've only had this for two months and don't really have the money to go drop on a new system. Did I buy a ....ty system and I'm screwed or is there something I'm missing here? ?!?!?! Please help!

Well, okay. I wasn't actually sure about how that worked, so if you can advise that would be awesome. I had originally purchased the Ecto 1100 started kit pictured above. I had some problems with the coils burning out super fast and the tank leaking and the shop I had purchased from was pretty far from me, so I went to my local vape shop. He didn't carry the bottom dual coils that fit the tank and battery. So he sold me a Kangertech EVOD 2 tank and bottom dual coils. (I'm just realizing that maybe this is part of my problem? I have no idea how this works) Told me everything should be fine, it's just a different coil style and tank and I haven't had any issues with it. So I have the ECTO 1100 battery and the Kangertech EVOD 2 tank and coils. I have no idea what kind of replacement battery I would even need, or what the average cost of JUST the battery was. I was sort of under the impression that I had to get the whole shebang not just a battery? Is there a certain wattage or whatever MaH(?) I should be looking for? I'm feeling really clueless here. I'm not a hobbiest, just a gal who wanted to quit smoking and is frustrated I had to go buy analogs this morning.

I'm not familliar with that brand and I went to their website and it looks kinda janky. There are decent eGo (pen style) batteries out there. They range from 300mAh to close to 2000mAh. And the price goes up with the size. The eGo batteries ingeneral arent known for reliability, and for what they cost a 20W box mod from a reliable manufacturer would likely be a better choice. Here are some suggestions...
$18.35 Authentic SmokTech eGo Winder 1300mAh VV Battery - black / 3.2-4.8V at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$27.40 Authentic Eleaf iStick 30W 2200mAh Variable Voltage / Wattage APV Box Mod - 2-8V / 5-30W / red at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$24.50 Authentic Eleaf iStick 20W 2200mAh Variable Voltage / Wattage APV Box Mod - 3-5.5V / 2-20W / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The site I found these on is one of the cheapest around, but shipping is a nightmare from what I've heard. You can look on other sites and see what you can find, but I would recommend a VV/VW (variable voltage/variable wattage) battery (mod). Some of them are eGo (pen shaped) and some are boxes like the iStick. But you can crank the voltage or wattage up or down to make your vape work/taste better. And that tank you have is a cheap starter as well, but it has a 510 threaded connector on the bottom making it compatible with just about any mod. If you really want to upgrade look into an Aspire Nautilus or Nautilus Mini. They are around $20.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Meeshy7. Glad to have you here!:)

It may be that the center pin of the battery is not making a good connection with the atomizer of the clearomizer/tank or the charger. This usually occurs from over-tightening the tank onto the battery connector. Just make sure that if you use something conductive (metal) to pry up on the center pin that you do NOT hit the fire button while you are working on the battery. Or better yet, turn off the battery.

Hey Susan, Thanks for the info! I checked that a bit ago after seeing it elsewhere and it's not the issue. I think my battery is just done. I had to go to my local vape store and get a new one (I kind of hate going there, they really cater to people who prefer boxes and mods and building their own coils and such. . . tend to sort of ignore me when I'm there. :( All they had really besides boxes was the e-go-c twist, so I got that now, but I'm keeping an eye out for other options to purchase online.

If you want something smaller than a box mod, but:

1. Fatter/shorter than an eGo battery
2. Better performance for when you wish to upgrade your clearomizer

Look at the eLeaf iStick 30 watt (4 colors available).

Hello @Meeshy7, I would recommend an iStick 30 watt mod with a Nautilus Mini tank.

Here is a pic of some of my journey. The Nautilus is on the tall Spinner 2 (twist) and the iStick 50W mod on right. I had issues with every battery or tank until I got the Aspire Nautilus Mini and the iStick 50W's. Any tank on a "twist" will be longer than the Nautilus and iStick 30.

The 30W is smaller than the 50W (30watt on right)

The 30 watt iStick is a 2200 mah battery with a proven track record and can be found online for about $30 - $35. The Nautilus can be found for about $20 to $25.
Good luck in your journey and welcome to the forum.

So far my journey has been:
Decide to quit smoking! YAYYYY
Buy Ecto 1100 pass through starter kit and 15ml juice ~$70 (ouch)
Tank leaks and coil burns out after a week.
Get new kanger evod2 tank and new replacement coils ~$25 (ouch)
Try some meh flavors at my local store that give me a sore throat and make me question this entire thing.
Friend suggests an online store, try good flavors. Okay, this is worth it now.
Battery kills over
Get EgoC twist because it's all my local store has ~$20 (ouuuuuuuuuch I know these are cheaper online!!)
look at things online and get thoroughly confused about ohms and mAh and watts and ego v. 501 and what even WORKS with these disposable coils I already have a bunch of?!?!?
Be terrified to buy anything online because what if it doesn't fit and I don't even know. . .

The learning curve is pretty steep around here!!

I'm really hesitant about not getting what I order. Like, ending up with a knock off. Is there a thread around here where people discuss where they get their gear?
I have order from all of these suppliers.

1. SweetVapes
2. MyFreedomSmokes
3. MyVaporStore
4. DiscountVapors
5. 101Vape

Baditude, I was JUST reading your blog on beginner setups! Thanks for the info!

If you put @ in front of a users name, it will "tag" them, like this @Meeshy7.:) You can even edit your post and add the @ "symbol".

@Baditude has great blogs. Everything from beginner to advanced. Looks like he's been updating them. I will have to read them all again as I recommend them so often to members.:)
